Gettin' It In The Street
The last David Cassidy's album recorded for RCA, November 1976. Produced by Gerry Beckley and David Cassidy. After the title song petered out at number 105 in the USA, the album was shelved at the last minute, those already pressed American copies were finally dumped on the market in July 1979..The album was released on schedule in Germany and Japan. RCA didn't even release it in the UK..And this is the best David's album in the 70's. I don't know how many times I've watched this video, David Cassidy singing his own song from that album:

David wrote, or co-wrote 7 songs , the other two are great covers. Those recordings are for a mature listener, album full of passion, sadness, loneliness , anger and also sarcastic humor. Music is darker, more rock-oriented, David's voice is huskier.

You can hear that those songs were recorded by fantastic , talented musicians who had great time working together. They worked for a month at the famous studio at the Caribu Ranch, in the Rocky Mountains , in Colorado. Between 1972 and 1985 over 150 famous, the greatest artists recorded there, including David Cassidy. He rented a Lear jet to take his big dog there. He and his band worked very hard but also had a lot of fun, all of them young, famous and very attractive. David was 26, Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Ricky Fataar two years younger. They went horseback riding every day and partied, some very pretty girls worked there..

David had high hopes for this album, a famous guitarist , Mick Ronson played on the title track..but it was another huge disappointment . Those last months of 1976 were so hard for David, that in later years he didn't even performed any of those songs.
Sam Hyman;'It was a very painful period for David(..) He was spinning out of control and starting experimenting with drugs, getting high to escape and kill the pain(..) I remember going to David and saying :'I can't be around this. It's killing me to watch you kill yourself' 'And I remember him saying 'I understand.' And that's when I moved to Colorado , in 1976. I had to get away from it. And that's when his father died.' (David Cassidy:Could It Be Forever, 2007)
'The fire that caused the death of actor-singer Jack Cassidy (49) probably was started by a cigarette" , "The blaze started in the 33 unit building at dawn Sunday morning, December 12th 1976, sending more than 100 tenants into the street.", "Friends and relatives spent almost all day awaiting word whether the body was, in fact, that of a genial, blond performer.", "People who loved Jack came to his funeral to sing, tell stories, laugh and cry. It was a real Irish wake.' , "Three of Jack's sons read poems he had written for them. Young David Cassidy didn't speak - he was too overcome."
'Tired , yes I am..'
