David Cassidy (Musician)

I got it on Google alerts a few days ago. A post or an entry of a blog, or from a page, anyway it was called 'A Comprehensive Compilation Of Corvettes With Celebrity Owners'.  There were so many pics, on each a Corvette and an its owner, a caption under each photo, e.g 'Paul Newman (Actor), and I started wondering what I was going to find under the DC pic..'Teen Idol', 'Pop Icon' or maybe 'Keith Partridge' (joking).  David Cassidy once said, "It seemed that whenever I'd read my name, it would be David 'former idol sex symbol' Cassidy. I used to that. Well, I guess I'm going to have to do something more significant in my life, like David 'convicted felon' Cassidy, or something. (February 1995). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOL5P8t7e5w There were the 1st generation Corvettes (and their owners), the 2nd..at last the 3rd. And David and that fabulous car he could use while on the show. And such a nice surprise. 'David C...

'Why Hasn't a Movie..

..been made about David Cassidy yet? He was the hottest thing in the universe back in the 70s.'. I've got it today on my Google Alerts. It was a question asked on Quora.   Another thing I've learnt about because of DC (and not the only one today). I've never heard about Quora, don't laugh. It's really amazing, a social question-and-answer website, wow.. I've already thought about some questions I'd love to ask. 300 million users a month !! Can you believe it ??. But at first I've had no idea what is it and just read the question and the answer : 'No story arc to speak of. Pretty white kid gets famous, gets old, stops being famous.' Maybe a song from that 'pretty white kid'..from New York.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kubw-zSpBaY I wish I could post this video that guy, but I would have to sign in first and answer many questions and I didn't feel like it. Now that other thing Ive learnt today.  The word 'arc', in conne...

'A Puka Shell Poster Boy'

Image
Today's blog has started with my impatience. The London Music Walk Of Fame.  Yesterday quite a lot of people signed the petition and I thought we would achieve 1000 signatures very quickly. But I was wrong. Where are the fans? Those who belonged to the David Cassidy Fan Clubs, the official ones and those run by fans themselves.. So I've browsed Internet searching for some info, (aimlessly really), and suddenly I discover how many articles are actually about David Cassidy a fashion icon. His feather cut and puka shells. And ..surprise, surprise, quite a lot of men admit years later that they thought that David was cool. Like that guy.. https://stevehigginslive.com/2015/01/24/david-cassidy-and-a-haircut-in-1975/ And of course the feather/shag cut is in vogue again (it was in the 90s too) and also nearly every article about the 70s hairstyles  mention David. https://hair-and-makeup-artist.com/mens-1970s-hairstyles/ The same can be said about pukka shells. In an article from 2019 ...

Time And Time Again..

'..and this boy's lost track..'. Like all of us I return to that song from..time to time. So important, for David and his fans. A testament of a friendship, wrote by David, Kim and Dave, 49 years ago. No one knew in 1973 that 'Can't Go Home Again' after years would take on such meaning. I love live version from the World Tour, Australia 1974. A young boy singing, happy to share his music with his fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4gvxt1WgaA And I've been thinking a lot about the 70s and about time today. 7 months of 2022 gone forever, days are already shorter and there are some unfinished projects we've been working on (with Jane, our webmaster) for such a long time. The Partridge Family's synopses, still 15 episodes left, and we started that project 13 months ago. And some other things waiting to work on  and to be published. And of course The London Music Walk Of Fame. 923 signatures. What can be done more ?? David deserves that Stone, that ...

The David Cassidy Story

Image
If I had to name  one thing I don't like (regarding DC), this tv film from 2000 would be in top 3. Of course I know that it was just a typical tv biopic not an artistic cinema, but if that character was DC.. David Cassidy and The Partridge Family were very popular in the 90s again. There were reruns of the show, 'I Think I Love You' was covered, and also used in an oudstanding, famous commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDb1jujp9VE Millions of people heard what Hugh Grant told Andie McDowell on 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. So it wasn't a big surprise that documentaries were made about David and his iconic show, e.g. 'David Cassidy - The Teenage Dream'. There were also two tv movies.  The first one called 'Come On, Get Happy : The Partridge Family Story', was aired on November 13th, 1999, on ABC. Eve Gordon played Shirley, Rodney Scott - David, Cathy Wagner - Susan, and Shawn Pyfrom - Danny. The story is told from the  Danny's viewpo...

David Cassidy In Popular Culture. Part 2. TPF

Image
Recently I have been asked to have a look  and read some Google Alerts on David Cassidy and TPF. Review the old ones , starting with 2010, and deal with new ones. In English (alerts). . Those old ones were hard, a lot about DC's personal problems, drinking, bankruptcy, divorce, and after November 2017..'David Cassidy, born...a former...died...' So many of them..I've removed a lot without reading..But it's very interesting what can we find about DC and TPF on Internet. I will try to make some cathegories..But first a song. The Partridge Family of course, it's cold and..snowing..I need some sunshine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-Vg0j7QqcU 1. How to earn on DC and TPF     There are a lot of such pages..With memorabilia from the 70s - teen mags, board games, lunchboxes, posters, paper dolls, and also original vinyl albums, sometimes very rare editions, some quite expensive, and thousands of pics.. But  real money are earned by selling new products - clothes wit...

David Cassidy In Popular Culture. Part 1 . Music

This is something I've wanted to write many times and first of all to share with you some songs or articles I've found while writing this blog.  David Cassidy in popular culture.  What does it mean to be a popular culture icon? This is something or someone which or who is generally recognized, at once, it can be a popular belief, an image of a certain view, an object like a can of soup or an image of someone..Because also real  people can become pop culture icons...They are forever stuck in one moment in time..When we say eg 'Rita Hayworth' we can imagine her in 'Gilda', in her first dramatic role, singing 'Put The Blame On Mame' .It doesn't matter that she had a different name or that she starred in other films. She is like a beautiful butterfly, pinned forever in display case for all of us to admire..And when people hear ; 'David Cassidy'..they imagine  a beautiful boy with long hair, in bell bottoms, puka shells, singing I Think I Love You...
