November 1970..

Image
November, the  month so special for us, David Cassidy's fans all over the world. And not only because of the upcoming anniversary, btw it will be a very difficult day. Someone wrote a few days ago, 'it's surreal'. Yes, 5 years and we still can't come to terms with it. Maybe a song.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy6cLVQUTUU November was always a very busy month for David Cassidy. A lot of memorable concerts, tv appearances, also as a guest star on many tv programmes, promo tours. Today I want to write about the November 52 years ago, November 1970. The month David became a star, and his song became number 1 on the Billboard chart. The first song he ever recorded.  He didn't play concerts at the time, but he was so busy, I don't think he watched the Partridge Family's episodes aired in November 1970. 'Danny And The Mob', 'But The Memory Lingers On', 'Did You Hear the One About Danny', 'Go Directly To Jail'. Danny..those e...

David Cassidy and Bravo..

A fellow fan and a friend, wonderful Araceli Ramirez from Spain posted yesterday a video I've never seen before. I knew about that programme earlier, and there are screen shots on the DC Official website, but no video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k-U77UEwxw Wow..that hair, everybody looked like that in the 80s, even me..It's amazing that all the time something new appears..And that video has made me think about the importance of Bravo in the 70s. We lived behind the Iron Curtain, Poland was a communist country, so we didn't have Western mgazines.or any newspapers or books. Some western music was played on our radio, but I didn't know how my fav singers looked like. It changed  a little bit in the second part of the 70s when they loosened our leash a bit. Some music programmes appeared on our tv, some stars were invited to take part in them , ABBA and 10 CC for example , but that lack of choice was very depressing. For many Polish teens  in the 70 the German Bravo w...

'David. Do His Kisses Mean Danger?'

Image
I wrote such a blog in December last year. One of my first. Since January 2018 I have been reading teen mags from the David Cassidy Website. They are fascinating read, not only because of David . They are amazing documents of social life of the 70s. Fashion, commercials, contests, fan clubs, problem columns. The 70s was a golden time for teen mags. And in the first part of that decade David Cassidy was the biggest  star. I've been carried  away a little bit and wrote it in that old blog : 'Millions of girls bought those mags. They waited impatiently for a new issue and new info, pics, posters. And they put David's posters on their bedroom walls. Millions of girls and in every bedroom David was looking at them and yet at just them. And when they were going to sleep they kissed his pics and his eyes were the first thing they looked at in the morning..' One more disc with David's message, this time Tiger Beat Official TPF Magazine, and a link to the page from DC Websit...

Words Of Love From David Cassidy

Image
That was a brilliant idea, so simple and so clever, a flexi disc presented free with Jackie magazine, David Cassidy's words of love for ..I don't know for how many millions of girls in the UK. Young David's spoken voice (also his 'private' one) was truly magical, innocent and seductive at the same time. I can imagine those girls all over the country, shut in their bedrooms and listening to David speaking to each and every one..how many times? Who knows.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypv4t_6rzSQ   It was a very carefully planned marketing campaign. Not every cover of 'Jackie' had a picture of a singer on it. It was not a music magazine, but a weekly British mag for girls, 'a teenage girl's best friend', published from 1964 to 1993, the number 1 British teen mag in the 70s. Inside each issue girls could find fashion and beauty tips, gossip, short stories, problem page, also interviews with popular singers and actors and pull- out posters This ma...
