A Grammy For David...One Day Maybe..

Image
I'm disappointed or rather surprised, that not many people appreciate a Grammy for Henry Diltz. That David Cassidy is listed as one of those 'music legends' photographed by him. The info about it is not on the website..I don't know why..Anyway, it's made me think about the awards DC got in his lifetime, and if it's possible he will ever get a Grammy. It's such an irony that at the very beginning of his career, when he didn't expect it, DC was nominated not only for a Grammy but also a Golden Globe. But not as David Cassidy, but as a member of The Partridge Family. In 1971. David Cassidy :'We were nominated for Grammy and Golden awards, none of which we won. Our show and music weren't quite credible enough; they were too commercial, too kid-oriented. That I got nominated for Grammys seemed pretty extraordinary to me, considering that before I was hired for TPF I had never even had aspirations of becoming a recording artist.' (David Cassidy : ...

'40 Carats', 'Breezy' and very busy David Cassidy

I want to write today about those movie roles DC was offered in the 70s. Or truly speaking about one role. We don't know how it really was, maybe it was just a gossip, but there is one article on the website with info, that in 1973 DC turned down the role in a film called '40 Carats'.  It happened that I saw that film in the early 80s on our Polish tv, and I remember that I liked it, but thought there was no chemistry between those two lovers, and first of all that it was absolutely impossible that 22-year-old man could have been in love with a 40-year-old woman. At the time I was under 20 myself so you can understand it.  In '40 Carats', Liv Ullmann plays a successful businesswoman, who on holiday in Greece meets a handsome young man, who helps her when her car breaks down. They goes for a drink and later..get to know each other better. Even that the young man is very nice (in that role 22 year old Edward Albert),  the woman thinks it's just a holiday fling, no...

The Lost Performances..The Voice of The Turtle.

David and Kay..We have a lot of pics, but the tape of their guest appearance on Good Morning America, July 23, 1979, didn't exist anymore. At the time they were just to appear together on stage, for the first and only time. In 'The Voice of The Turtle'. David wanted to work with his wife. She wasn't so sure about it. And in June 1977, just 2 months after their marriage she gave an interview and said : 'David can think of us working together more easily than I can. Work was always the one place I had to myself, the one thing I never let boyfriends in on..I would never even let them on the set to watch me work. With David, it's going to have been different. I'm trying to learn that you don't give something up just because you share it with someone.' (June 18, 1977. Marilyn Beck : 'Cassidy-Lenz union happy despite work'). It explains a lot of things.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQfzIImCP84 David said in one interview :'a friend of ours ...

Kay Lenz, an Actress

Image
Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. That tv series was shown in my country I think in 1978, and everybody watched it, also a lot was written about the cast. So one day I read that Kay's husband was a former teen idol, David Cassidy. There was also a pic and I thought that it was just wonderful, I thought they were the most beautiful couple in the world. There was something very moving about Kay. I thought she was different than typical American actress. Such beautiful eyes, but her beauty wasn't an ordinary kind, not for everybody so to speak. When I was a teen I couldn't put in words what I thought a...
