Teen Age Idol / Jack Lewis

Image
There are some DC's tribute videos, with his pics but not his music. I'm not a great fan of them. But I'm leaving my blog for a while (a short holiday to avoid those last nervous days before Christmas) and while  looking for an inspiration for today's entry, I have found this video on YT. And like always with David Cassidy, it was the beginning of a new adventure. I mean learning new things and rediscovering some old stuff. DC is always such an inspiration. First of all, that video. Very nice fragments from TPF and DC on the beach, and a wonderful song, one of many of the Ricky Nelson's hits. Of course he was a teen idol too, known all over the world, and a musician, songwriter, singer and a popular tv and movie actor. Inducted into Rock&Roll Hall Of Fame in 1987. Ricky Nelson died in a plane crash on December 31, 1985. He was 45 years old. 'Teen Age Idol' was  recorded in 1962. The lyrics.. as if written for David. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAXgJ0...

Today is another anniversary, another 21st. Let's do it for David.. https://chng.it/NgppymDR6K 'David must be on the MWoF' Those words are not mine (but it's my opinion of course), but David Hamilton's. We have his support and it means a lot for us. He's sent Sharron that message : 'David Cassidy MUST be on The Music Walk of Fame.  I remember hosting his concerts at Wembley and interviewing him on Radio 1 in the 70s. He was a huge star. Such was his following that so many of his fans worship him today. ONE OF THE TRUE GIANTS OF MUSIC, a great actor and seller of millions of records.   'Give me a D...give me an A..'  David Hamilton, a legendary radio and tv personality. Born in 1938, started his career in 1959 and since then hosted over 12 000 r...

Blood Brothers and Petula Clark

Image
Maybe because the weather has changed..and I can feel that this is the end of summer,  I've been very moved while listening to DC radio interviews from 1994 and 1995 . David Cassidy talking about Blood Brothers, his career and his fans.. The first interview is from October 17, 1994 (WSNY 94.7 FM  Columbus, Ohio), DC in the evening was to perform in Blood Brothers that day ( an opening night in Columbus)..The broadcast was live, rather early in the morning, DC was tired, after 7 weeks of touring. This is just a raw recording  of that programme, with adverts, nothing was edited etc..so I've felt like listening to a live broadcast not to the old recording of sth what happened  27 years ago..From the 12th minute DC started talking with listeners..and this is really incredible and so moving, that bond he had with  fans.. http://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/TvFilmPages/Radio1994October17.mp3 At the first part of that interview he told about the history of 'Blood...

"Back In The Spotlight Where He Belongs..'

Image
This is something what one journalist said about David Cassidy.  On October 1st, 1990, on Radio 95.5P LJ in NYC..David was a special guest there, and he was so happy that people loved his new music and that he was again in his native city.  He told about his roots, New Jersey .The songs from his new album were played and the listeners could call and asked him questions. And they all said the same thing - 'David, so wonderful that you are back..How we have been waiting for you..' "How we missed you', 'Just great to hear you again..' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EanbjJB8B5E&list=PL8qnO3RA8w7qG81ulwdGIN6xMjtVig3PO&index=2 One woman said that she had all TPF's albums and that in the 70s she'd pretended that DC'd been singing just for her. And David said : 'You know, I was singing  for you in fact'. He was very moved and happy, joked with fans, another woman asked him : 'Are you married?' 'No.." "Have you got any...

David Cassidy On The Radio.. or Are You Learning A Lot About David You Perhaps Never Knew?

Image
A very long title, but recently I've been asked such a question. "Are you learning a lot about David Cassidy while writing your blog ? Something new?' And I remembered that question while listening to David's radio interviews. The answer is yes..and no. First of all..I've never realized that being a star is so boring. Like..being a teacher. I was a teacher in the 90s so I know. And I only taught four classes, but the same in each one, and my pupils were very bored like me...very smart 15 year old boys. I had enough after 1 week, but I had to work, and it became such a stress that I started having serious health problems because of it and later had ...gall bladder operation..Sounds familliar ? And I was a teacher only for 5 months. 5 months of stress and boredom.. Even writing about my school career is stressful so let's listen to some music first. I don't think I've written about this beautiful TPF's song so far.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utV...

David Cassidy On The Radio..the 70s

Image
I'm a great fan of David Cassidy's radio interviews. He had such an amazing voice, it's  a great pleasure just to listen to him, concentrate on the things he said not his looks.. During his career he gave about 200 radio interviews we know about, but I think there were  more.. He was interviewed by many legendary radio personalities. In the 70's by David Hamilton, Brian Matthew, Jack de Manio, Michael Wave, Tony Blackburn, Peter Powell and Tony Prince.  But we don't have a whole list  from the 70's, only a few audio  recordings  and 2 or 3 of them are of good sound quality .Not a single interview from 1971, can you believe it ?? The first one DC's radio appearance is from February 19th 1972,  Radio KOV, Pittsburg, PA.  It was an interview promoting his first American's concert that year. His previous concert was on December 5th, 1971, so everybody was very excited,  a huge crowd of screaming fans gathered outside the building. and DC several ...

Happy Birthday Dante.. Daniel Bonaduce

Image
He was born Dante Daniel Bonaduce on 13th August 1959 in Broomall, Pennsylvania..Before The Partridge Family, appeared on 7 tv shows, the first one was in 1967. Both his parents were in showbusiness (writers). After TPF he was on (among other credits)..Police Story (1975), Fantasy Island (1978), That '70's Show (1998-2001, 2 episodes), Less Than Perfect (with David Cassidy, 2005), CSI (2006), and of course with Mark Hamill in the film called 'Corvette Summer' (1978), it was first Mark's appearance after the unexpected success of Star Wars.  A box office hit, even that critics didn't like it. This is the opening scene with..Danny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCjCas1L6xM Danny on TPF..he was a true comedy talent, one of the best ever child actors, so natural and funny and with a such distinctive, great voice. It's not a surprise that later in life he made a career in radio. He was so good that many TPF's episodes were written with him in mind..And with...

'Well...I sleep a lot, Tony..'

I've written about David Hamilton, but of course  there were other radio and tv personalities in the 70s, who helped  DC became a superstar in the UK.  He wasn't Keith Partridge there, but for a while,  the most popular pop singer, the biggest star. David and some of the most famous British DJ's became friends, they appreciated his talent, his personality, his sense of humor, and that he wasn't another jaded teen idol .   Tony Blackburn (born in 1943), another legend. He was with the pirate stations, Radio Caroline and Radio London before joining the BBC in 1967. I learned only a few years ago from my English friends, that Tony was also  quite a known singer himself. In the 60s he had 2 Top 40 hits. And he was not bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlyIyRMDTW4 In the 70s, Tony Blackburn was a regular host of Top Of The Pops unill 1979. He interviewed David for Top Of The Pops' 500th anniversary programme. 'Daydreamer' was a great DC's hit in the UK a...

The BBC Broadcasting House, the headquaters of the BBC in Portland Place in Marylebone, London. In August 2019 I spend there at least one hour one afternoon (outside) taking pics and thinking about how everything changed so quickly, and about London and David Cassidy. He was interviewed there many times, the first time in 1972, by David Hamilton. And this is a post about those two David's..a great singer and a great broadcaster. Cassidy and Hamilton. I have a soft spot for David Hamilton. Such an interesting, charming, smart, funny man. A very known radio and tv personality, who's found time to exchange some very nice emails with an unknown woman from Poland, and it was such a pleasure for me. I wrote to him in 2018, when I was trying to write something about DC. David Hamilton found time for me. It says what kind of person he is.  He was born in 1938 and started his career very early, in 1959 with the British Forces Network in Germany. Since then he has hosted over 12 000 radi...
