David Cassidy first came to London in February 1972 to promote his tv show and his first solo album 'Cherish'. It was expected that maybe 200-300 fans would greet him at Heathrow..thousands screaming and very excited teens appeared. It was madness. His popularity was compared to the second coming of the Beatles.

DC, 'They had me doing press interviews through my whole stay in England, from the moment I'd wake up each day until I went to bed. In a week I became a big national name. It was overwhelming. My album went right to the top spot.'

Not only press interviews. Here is 21 year old David Cassidy and his first visit at the BBC  TV Centre, His first English tv interview. Over the next 40 years he will be there hundreds of times.

It was the beginning of the most amazing story of..love. David Cassidy and his fans. David Cassidy and London. He was loved and cherished here. He was always welcomed as the dearest friend. He worked and lived in that amazing city he called his second home. He was a superstar in London. Always. He was happy here and had many friends.

Music Walk Of Fame in London has a Criteria for those who may be included, Music Icons, Innovators, Inspirational, Visionaries, Unsung Heroes. David Cassidy meets the Criteria on more than one count. He deserves that Stone. 

What more I think we owe it to him. He had a huge impact on lives of millions, and still his music brings love and happiness and it hurts how that wonderful, fabulous singer was pigeonholed, how he was trapped by his image. A teen idol..a singer for little girls. We know how unfair it is. It's enough just to listen..

We are just at the beginning of that long road. But we also have had communication with The Music Walk Of Fame and they are aware of our petition ! We do know that David could eventually be in the running for this accolade.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. They Said I Changed A Lot..

Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
