Wish You Were Here / Harold Rome

First Jack Cassidy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7boNC9Sbv34 Recently my FB friend, Sandie Leeming has written a comment on my blog, that the most important part of David Cassidy legacy is friendship. And I've thought to myself that yes, of course friendship, I myself have some very close friends met because of DC, but for me his music is the most important. The world can only remember him as a pop icon, but for me first of all  David Cassidy was a great, underrated singer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhIl93zAuJU However, recently, I've been thinking a lot about Sandie's words. Our friendship.. That connection we, his fans, feel and experience. That we care about each other. That support and empathy. That we are kind to each other, how important it is. Louise Poynton called her book, 'David Cassidy A Legacy Of Love'. Love And Light, we often write these words. Who could have thought in the early 70s, that after half a century, nearly 6 years after his death,

Looking For David Cassidy in London

Or 'It's A Long Way To Heaven'. Written by Mark James. I always listen to David's music when flying somewhere, it was the same on the last Thursday morning, on my way to London. The first song, chosen at random.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqSrTNxV6S8 And it's stuck with me for 5 days. Playing in my head while I was standing in line to be allowed to the UK at the Luton Airport, on the bus to Cardiff, and I wasn't surprised at all that I found it at the Cardiff Market on Saturday morning. The Partridge Family 'Crossword Puzzle' album. And now I'm listening to it at home and thinking about my last trip to London. Walking in David Cassidy's footsteps. Somehow it was different this time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vefm7PiX60Y Another great song from 'Crossword Puzzle', the album was released 50 years ago, in March 1973, the final Partridge Family record to make the album chart, only number 167 on Billboard 200. It was there just f

Cherish Is The Word..

Can't be another title today. Terry Kirkman, the man who wrote that song in 1966, died a few days ago, he was nearly 84. Terry Kirkman wasn't very happy that 'Cherish' became the Association signature song, of course later appreciated the fact how important the song was for many.  Terry Kirkman retired from the music industry in the 80s and worked as an addictions counselor, and during past few days since he died, I've read a lot of posts published by those whose lives Terry Kirkman has saved.  Let's listen not to 'Cherish', but to 'Along Comes Mary', written by Tandyn Almer (another DC connection). Amazing song, and what a fabulous Association's live performance. I love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAUgmiAOU5E Of course for us, 'Cherish' is David Cassidy signature song, the most popular among his fans, for him it was a huge hit.  The single released in October of 1971 reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, and even was num

I Lost My Chance . Meet and Greet with DC

From David Cassidy's first solo album, one more ballad written by mysterious Adam Miller. David asking this girl to stay, 'So please don't go.." How anyone could have left him. Of course we know who. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWxlrioMjx0 DC sang it so effortlessly. Keith Atack must have thought the same. His excuse may be the fact that he was very young at the time, and very popular with girls.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPuojilk8qA We love you Keith. Sorry for posting this. I've thought about this song in the morning after chatting with one of my FB friends from England. Helen couldn't see David Cassidy in Manchester in 1973, she was too young and her father didn't let her go. Her dream came true many years later and after nearly 36 years she not only saw David in concert, but first of all took part in that amazing event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq5FJwGuLoE&t=23s It's difficult to believe but I first heard about an event called

David Cassidy in Cardiff

Image
Let's watch a video first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ja0Ei7MHoM It was in London, 38 years ago, but David Cassidy performed that September in Cardiff too. On 23rd, at St David's Centre. now it's called St David's Hall, and it happens that I'll be in Cardiff on 23rd of September, 2023.  I'm going to the UK again, and you can't imagine how it's emotional for me. There are many reasons. For many years it was impossible, Poland was a communist country, later I was very poor, but in the end impossible became possible. It's just 2,5 hours by plane but it amazes me every time. That thrill when the plane lands in England.. At first was only London. Because of David Cassidy, in 2018, I decided to go on a tour around the UK. 17 very demanding days. We were everywhere. Our guide was hopeless, but I've been to many places I would never have gone on my own. That was only the beginning. My new friends, David Cassidy's fans, have invited me to visit

Are you?  'Don't ya catch you round here no more..' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OmAJJdMnoU&t=70s This song has been playing in my head today. Anytime I've wanted to start writing a new entry. About David and Elliot Mintz. And the tapes. I have so many things to do before going to the UK, but it's been too tempting, like for the boy in this song, 'Then a midnight lady with eyes of green', in my case David and his pic. Lanie Bray posted yesterday some great pics, DC with Elliot Mintz, and among them there was one unknown to me, from a party. Really nice pic. There were a lot of handsome, pretty boys in the 70s, teen idols like David, but he was in league of his own. There was something so special about him. That's the way it is with you..David. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67r7lLTUxfA&list=RD67r7lLTUxfA&start_radio=1 I've noticed of course (and read), that Lanie Bray besides posting pics also wrote about David, Elliot and the tapes.

Love Is A River In Time

Oh yes, it is.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXnQABJ9NAE Written by Andrew Gold and Sue Shifrin, Yes, the same Sue, so please think twice before writing something unpleasant about her career.. My song for today, so powerful and emotional, the lyrics and the David's voice and his vocal range.. I've thought about it because my oldest daughter was in Las Vegas last night. She is not a DC fan, when after November 2017 David's pics started appearing on my bedroom's walls she was rather critical at first, she couldn't understand why the late teen idol from the 70s became suddenly so important for her mother. Now she knows. She started her trip a few days ago in LA, and wanted to know where DC lived there..later Big Sur, and yesterday Las Vegas. She's asked where the Star is situated. And she's found it and taken pics and it was very emotional for both of us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JMM4t_e-Ng I think it's so important and really amazing what we,

David Cassidy, a Souvenir Pin Up

Dimitrios Jim Salamanis has let me use this pic. Thank you so much. Jim is from Australia and has one of the biggest David Cassidy and The Partridge Family memorabilia collection in the world. He is not just the owner of many priceless items including the David's concert outfits, his is a real collection, organized in thougthful way, with great attention to every element. I wonder if Jim has a calalogue of the memorabilia he owns. I'm a former librarian .. Let's see and hear once more David Cassidy singing 'Cherish' in Australia, in 1974. I love this version and that video. 'No more shoes..'. He worked so hard in these insane conditions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCt9WMts1A8 A few days ago Jim posted this pic, it's from Australian teen magazine called 'Beaut". The year 1974, it was David Cassidy special issue, with his pic on the cover, inside a contest and the main prize was a lock of David's hair. And Super Giant Colour Pin Up.  Of c

Just a short entry today, I'm busy in Warsaw for 2 days, but you can't leave DC even for a while.  First because Austin Butler's eyes are looking at me wherever I go.  He is the latest global YSL fragrance ambassador, and his posters are on every bus stop and in every shopping centre.  Nice poster, but imagine if David..I'd have been the first to buy..for myself. Nevertheless I'm happy for Austin, he was great as Elvis, and because of his working with David we wish him the best. https://youtu.be/IkXC-eBmB_Y?si=xuuBP_49KJQ2t8Me So the song, so important for David Cassidy. A hit from that amazing, great album, 'Old Trick New Dog'. In 1998 DC was again working non stop, performing in EFX, night after night, but it was not enough for him. The album was released in May of 1998, 25 years ago, by his own, short-lived record label, Slamajama Records, launched with Linda Blum, his business partner. David wanted to make something different and achieve a new modern sou

Daydreamers. A Short Story

Another short story. Just a fantasy again, but I lived once in a pub in Acton in London, amazing place, wonderful people, and I also lost once my shoe in similar curcumistances.  And of course David Cassidy performed in 'Blood Brothers in December of 1995.  He had a camel wool coat too.. Chapter 1 At least it stopped raining and she could get rid of her broken and very uncomfortable umbrella. There was no point carrying it any longer and it was much easier walking without it. She had a plastic carrier bag in each hand and a small handbag on her shoulder. Her hair was wet, the same as her jeans and the  thin coat she had on. She didn’t expect such cold weather in London. Even in December. The ankle length boots were the worst, somehow icy cold water managed to get inside them, but she tried not to think about it, just concentrating on moving forward, watching  her steps, she knew she was close to the Knightsbridge Tube Station, and if was lucky would be in Acton and her pub in an ho
