Las Vegas Walk Of Stars April 12, 2022..

I have my share in that star too, like many, many fans all around the world. It wasn't easy to gather such money, but we've managed. A friend's told me that MGM should have paid for it and invited all fans for an event, they earned so much money because of David..That so many people in business said that they'd been  inspired by him..so..??..But after those nearly 4 years since DC has left us , I know that if we , fans, don't want David to be forgotten, we must do everything ourselves and don't count on..anybody. So let's  stop talking about who should or shouldn't be present , but  concentrate on what can be done, how to get to LV , how we can help each other , and first of all how to help those wonderful people who organize the event. Here is the link to David Cassidy's Official Las Vegas Walk Of Stars 2020. Open to the public. There are a lot of info, about the event itself , but also about other things which are planned , auctions..and a party

Elliot Mintz and The Cassidy Collection

This post is going to be difficult to write , there are some reasons..Maybe the most important is , that I don't know what David Cassidy himself would have thought about  The Cassidy Collection.. So  let's first watch this short amazing video, I remember when I've watched it for the first time. It was like seeing David Cassidy (from the 70s) in a new light , the way he talked , even the way he looked. Of course he looked gorgeous, soo beautiful..but I mean he looked like a real person interested in the conversation , not like a superstar bored to death by the same questions again..It's a fragment of the interview for Eyewitness News 7. We don't have the original air date , but I know that Elliot Mintz was an entertaintment correspondent for Eyewitness News on KABC from 1973 to 1974. I think it was made in 1973. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sD0ZSyW1YU Elliot Mintz conversations with David Cassidy are in a league of their own. There are some reasons for it. 1. El

Dick Leahy (1937-2020)  (in the 70's he was also famous for  his very posh suits and full length mink coat ), was a very successful music industry executive and publisher.   He had a real talent for spotting hits, eg he backed David Bowie's 'Space Oddity' to be a hit when nobody was playing it on the radio. He worked with Dana, Donna Summer, he signed Bay City Rollers after seeing them performing in a club in Edinburgh, he guided George Michael's career with 'Wham' and  solo. He was not only George Michael's publisher, but also his guru and guide.  As a Bell Records' manager in the UK from 1971, he supervised David Cassidy's career in Europe, and he made David a big star there. They became friends.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVvkmFfq8I0 And it was  Dick Leahy who  welcomed DC when he first came to London in February 1972.  In 1984 when David was making the 'Romance' album, he lived with Dick and his wife Tinca , at the Wick on Richm

I've written about David Hamilton, but of course  there were other radio and tv personalities in the 70s, who helped  DC became a superstar in the UK.  He wasn't Keith Partridge there, but for a while,  the most popular pop singer, the biggest star. David and some of the most famous British DJ's became friends, they appreciated his talent, his personality, his sense of humor,  and that he wasn't another jaded teen idol .   Tony Blackburn (born in 1943), another legend. He was with the pirate stations, Radio Caroline and Radio London before joining the BBC in 1967. I learned only a few years ago from my English friends, that Tony was also  quite a known singer himself. In the 60s he had 2 Top 40 hits. And he was not bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlyIyRMDTW4 In the 70s, Tony Blackburn was a regular host of Top Of The Pops unill 1979. He interviewed David for Top Of The Pops' 500th anniversary programme. 'Daydreamer' was a great DC's hit in the UK at

The BBC Broadcasting House , the headquaters of the BBC in Portland Place in Marylebone, London. In August 2019 I spend there at least one hour one August afternoon (outside) making pics and thinking about how everything changed so quickly , and about London and David Cassidy. He  was interviewed there many times, the first time in 1972 , by David Hamilton. And this is a post about those two David's..a great singer and a great broadcaster. Cassidy and Hamilton. I have a soft spot for David Hamilton. Such an interesting, charming, smart, funny man. A very known radio and tv personality, who's found time to exchange some very nice emails with an unknown woman from Poland, and it was such a pleasure for me. I wrote to him in 2018, when I was trying to write something about DC. David Hamilton found time for me. It says what kind of person he is.  He was born in 1938 and started his career very early, in 1959 with the British Forces Network in Germany. Since then he has hosted over

Some Great Concerts From 2011 and I Think I Love You Animal Foundation

Image
In  2011 David Cassidy played 23 concerts in the US and one in London. They were very memorable, special ones, and David in spite of many problems in his private life was in fantastic form , and he looked soo handsome.. In February he gave 3 concerts with Omaha Symphony Orchestra (2nd half of each show) , those concerts were very special for him. David sang beautifully, and looked just fabulous in the tuxedo (full length but no tails) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1vhgKxSp7g On April 9th he played an amazing concert at the Superstar Theatre in Atlantic City , NY.  another DC's great performance, despite having eye surgery 8 days prior and having a cold. I'd have paid any money to be there that night..This time the opener was Come On Get Happy and a huge birthday cake for David was brought on stage. That concert was really special, so emotional . Just listen to  David singing  'Ain't No Sunshine'  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I299wq62WN0  On  stage DC was accom

It's not going to be easy writing about the last DC's years. But I think they are very important part of his legacy. The lesson for us how not to give up when life become difficult. The way DC dealt with those problems, the way he faught to the end , fans watched his struggles and supported him. And he had a lot of very serious , written a lot about in tabloids , personal, financial and health problems. Suddenly again the future was unknown and scary..another crossroad 'I never say never. (..) I love to play (music) , travel and act, but I want to use whatever time I have left for something different.' (Oct. 27th, 2011 , N.Dunham : DC takes the stage on last time, washingtonexaminer.com) Evelyn Ward, his mother, once so beautiful and full of life..she was 88 in 2011, and since 2005 had a severe dementia. It was very painful for DC. She needed round the clock care. David was concious that there were a lot, millions baby- boomers who had elderly parents, and they needed h

Let's start with the song , side B of  the single Cherish. It was # 9 on November 13, 1971 on Billboard Hot 100. The only one David's US Top 10 hit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WL1rc2qwFBw Why that song? I've thought about it and some DC's words recently, one evening on my holiday. Before going to Djerba, I've promised myself that this time I would not talk with anybody. No new friends, no new adventures. Because I'm a person who talks with everybody and everywhere, people keep telling me stories, wherever I go, I'm asked about the way and advice in LA, London or Agadir.. once I talked for 6 hours on a train with young German all the way from Berlin to Warsaw. But this time I just wanted to rest, swim, read, listen to the music, no phone calls, no internet, no tv, no talking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJZRRekOYqk Free wifi was only at the lobby, it was great because I  checked news and social media only twice a day, but  that also meant that most

The Last Session. June 11th, 2018

Yes, it's difficult to believe but it was aired 3 years ago, in June 2018.on A&E. This doc  aroused emotions from the very beginning..From the moment the work on it started. The family  wasn't happy , or even more, also some fans. Me too. We were afraid ..it's obvious why we were. I even wrote a letter to the network against the upcoming doc. It was a very emotional time , so soon after David had left us..It was hard just to write those words -' he died '. We discussed the film no one saw, on the DC website.. In May 2018 posthumous DC's jazz EP called 'Songs My Father Taught Me ' was released ..And when for the first time I was listening to 'Night and Day' and heard David obviously struggling to sing those words about '..yearning burning inside of me..'. I started to cry.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7AL9JsKnz0 It's a great record.  It was #1Amazon Jazz chart, #2 iTunes Jazz Chart, #13 Billboard Jazz Album Chart..David Cass

Keith Partridge And David Cassidy

Image
Of course we always knew that. There were two men - one was a naive teenager, a superstar,  a good boy who went to school and spent evenings with his mum and his younger siblings. Didn't smoke, drink and at drive- in movies watched films. Very, very pretty, but not very smart.  His name was Keith Partridge, we knew what we could expect from him, beautiful and little boring boy next door. And there was that other one..sophisticated, soft spoken, shy but at the same time very sure of himself, gentle and nice but also soo sexy, what he was doing at night..? He was like from another planet. A teen idol. His name was David Cassidy.  My friend Jane summed it up best. She was at DC's concert in Manchester in 1973..She was 15 and went with her best girl friend. They expected Keith Partridge, but instead they got someone else..David Cassidy. sexy and  exciting, who moved on the stage in a way..Jane never saw anything like that before. She was a very polite girl, but she started jumping

A Flight To London and..Weather With You.

Image
The flight from Warsaw to Djerba (my holiday destination) wasn't long , just 3 hours..but I spent more time at the airports than on the planes actually. I know that Covid and security..but really you can understand why very rich have own planes..Anyway, already in Warsaw ( going to Djerba) I've been thinking about how tiring for DC must have been those countless flights in the 70s..In 1971 when he was working non stop making TPF , recording music for The Partridge Family and his first solo album 'Cherish' , taking part as a guest star on many tv shows, he also started playing concerts. 34 in the US in 1971. Should have been more but David had an operation (in July) , it was a price he paid for that enormous every day stress.  He played concerts (in 1971) all over America - in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington..Just look at the map for yourself..I have no i

On The Beach With ..David Cassidy And Timm McCoy

Image
I've just returned from my holiday. 2 weeks of sun, swimming..and more swimming..and listening to DC's music on the beach..Actually to David Cassidy Day 2018, the great gift we got from Timm McCoy. It was  3 years ago on the day which should have been David's  68th birthday... I don't usually listen to this programme, I have some CD's in my car for every day listening,..I save Timm's DC Day for my holidays..I was listening to it on my trips around the UK and in the U.S. and on every flight and on every beach I was, I'm so grateful for those priceless 13 hours of DC's music... The timing..In April 2018 we were still so ..in shock really. It was difficult to imagine the world without David ..and me and a lot of fans were disappointed that David Cassidy (and Glen Campbell) was omitted at the Oscars..Of course, he didn't really played in movies, but David was a pop icon and he had such a huge impact on many lives..And with each passing month. we fans rea

If You Ever Go..Tony Romeo again and leaving David for a while

Image
That time, (and it was really exceptional), Tony wrote that song with Wes Farrell. I wonder about that WF's contribution..Anyway, for me this is one of the saddest TPF's song..Maybe naive , but so true..there would be no sun.. want to die.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfmKkfK4zlM The best Tony Romeo's songs were written and recorded in late 60s and in early 70's, the most popular of course was I Think I Love You. Off and on he tried to make a name for himself as a singer, but he wasn't succesful. His songs were recorded by Wayne Newton, Lou Christie, The Cowsills, The Seekers , Paul Anka, Richard Harris and of course by David with TPF and solo. This is another Tony's composition...and we can see in this video DC's grandfather as an extra.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMtpfUocvdI Tony Romeo died at home at the age of 56, on June 23, 1995..And one more song..one of the most beautiful love song ever.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqBc549rcF4 It's

Crossroads /Robert Johnson/

Image
This is a classic rock - blues song. Wrote in 1936 as 'Cross Road Blues' ,and Eric Clapton with Cream popularized it in the late 60s. David Cassidy always loved Eric Clapton's music and his guitar playing, and he often performed that song on stage.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmlNmDNsk4w DC's concerts' reviews .. It's amazing how they were always personal. DC said once that people loved him or hated him, no middle ground..  'sang too fast', 'not a concert but an- all out filtration from start to finish' , 'talked too much' , 'too much conversation with the audience' ,'what  for acoustic ?' , 'why not more acoustic?' , 'why new arrangments for old hits?', 'an awful white shirt', 'he looked great in white shirt', every person , fan or not fan had own expectations and own ideas about him, and how DC's concert should have looked like. And those astonished comments.' he had real voc
