The Ring.

A song first. That recording has really made my day, making me truly happy. Just wonderful. https://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/DiscographyPages/I'll%20Leave%20Myself%20a%20Little%20Time_JohnGomolkaVersion.mp3 Yesterday I wrote that it was probably on the set of Marcus Welby, when for the first time DC had on his crest ring. I stress the word 'probably'. I've got some comments, and Donna Show, (thank you so much) has written  that it wasn't the crest ring, but -'shappire looking ring that he also wore when PF started.'. Nancy York has added - 'the first episode he had the ring on was 'Dora, Dora, Dora', which was aired in September 1971'. I really appreciate every comment, we all want to know everything about DC and it's very important to have reliable info. Of course I know what DC wrote himself, 'He (Jack) gave it to me for my twenty-first birthday.' (David Cassidy : Could It Be Forever?, 2007, p.318). So why I have written ...

or Jack and David singing together on Merv Griffin Show on August 23, 1971. It's impossible not to be moved when you hear the young David's  magical voice..That interview was so important and difficult  for the 21 year old DC. And singing with his father. At least we have the audio of it.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc5ZZ0iSFbk&t=63s I thought about this recording yesterday evening. Columbo again on one of the tv channels. Last week was the episode with Sal Mineo, yesterday with Jack Cassidy. His last one, from 1976. He appeared 3 times on Columbo. On the episode called 'Murder by the Book', aired in September 1971 (directed by Steven Spielberg), "Publish or Perish', January 1974, and the one I saw yesterday, one of the most memorable Columbo's episode ever, 'Now You See Him..'. Jack as The Great Santini, once ex-Nazi, Stefan Mueller. It was the first time yesterday since the 70s that  I saw this episode from start to finish on a quite  big...

Night And Day / Cole Porter.

Let's start with a recording from 'Wish You Were Here' and listen to 25 year old Jack Cassidy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBG4boIM_mI When David became a teen idol, he told many times that his father did nothing to help him in his career. On the contrary. It was an open wound all the DC's life. Even many years later he felt this pain . He said in 2011 - ' He (Jack) never said I was worthless, but his resentment would come out in these little mean ways. Then when The Partridge Family came along, he said in an interview that I got lucky with my success and that just broke my heart'. Of course Jack helped DC a little bit. He asked Ruth Aarons  to take care of David, he paid for his first professional photos, David lived with his father and Shirley in New York after his graduation..but it's not so important now and I don't want to write about that very difficult relationship. I spent yesterday evening listening to Jack Cassidy singing, also in a duet wi...

December. Tell Me It's Not True / William Russell

December. Even when David was a kid.. 'Generally,Christmas was one of the saddest times in my childhood because from the time my parents split up until I started seeing my dad in California, both my father and mother were gone.' ( David Cassidy: Could It Be Forever?, 2007) And both of them died in December, Jack, 45 years ago on the 12th, and Evelyn in 2012, on the 23th. DC wrote about that horrible day, December 12, 1976 in his autobiography, and I've written about this tragedy a few times this year. Parents and children. Father and son. Jack and David. They didn't have a chance to understand each other and forgive, build a relationship on an adult level. Maybe it could have never been possible. Poor DC was left with all that pain  forever, for the rest of his days.  It was  an amazing coincidence ."Shaun Cassidy :' I associate my New York experience (performing with DC on Broadway in Blood Brothers) with our dad and he was very successful on Broadway, he won ...

'Talent Survives..

... but the people may not' said David Cassidy in 2000. Of course 'talent will survive' that was what Jack told his oldest son when he became a teen idol. He was worried about him, about David's future. DC wrote and said a lot about his father. He was the most important figure in his life.. "He (Jack) never said I was worthless, but his resentment would come out in these little mean ways. Then when TPF came along, he said in an interview that I got lucky with my success and that just broke my heart.'.. I will not try to write about them, we know only DC's side of the story, and I can imagine that their relationship could have been very difficult even if Jack hadn't divorced Evelyn Ward..Two actors, two great egos, they were very alike.. This  is a full interview between David and his father from Merv Griffin Show aired more than 50 years ago on August 23, 1971 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1kv1FQMJVU&t=466s Amazing conversation, sure difficult f...
