'I Recently Discovered David's Music..'

Image
Her name is Isabel and she has written those words after signing the petition. Music Walk Of Fame Artist Stone Honour For David Cassidy. London Music Walk Of Fame. Isabel is one of 1181 fans who have thought (so far) that David Cassidy should be honoured that way. She wrote : 'I recently discovered David's music by chance and I think he was/is very talented and gifted. I'm in my early 20s and I hope more people from my generation take an interest..' David's music, that wonderful, magical collection of unforgettable songs, the result of tireless passion, work and talent. And perfectionism. His legacy. Whatever he sang, in every decade. No matter what. Whether it was The Partridge Family's recording or a performance in Las Vegas, or a tv guest appearance. A concert for 200 people or 40 000. Always 100 %.  Ain't No Sunshine.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We_T5LPBuFM I like not only what, but also how she's written it. That she calls him David, like the r...

David Cassidy, an actor or a singer ?

Image
We love to discuss it from time to time. What David preferred? Being an actor or a singer? Of course he wanted to be an actor at the beginning..but later?  What roles he could have played? Luke Skywalker ?..Danny from Grease ?, the names of the films are mentioned - 'Ghost', 'Pretty Woman', 'An Officer and a Gentelman'..I don't know. Personally I think he would have been great in 'Sting' and 'Great Gatsby'. The Robert Redford's characters. Both charming and on the hook with the law especially Jay Gatsby, mysterious, complex, romantic, David would have been in 'Great Gatsby' (and looked in those wonderful clothes) sensational.  Like on Fantasy Island, when he played Jeremy Todd. http://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/TvFilmPages/FantasyIsland1983.html Was he a great actor? I don't know, I can't be objective, I usually can't take my eyes off him, a film, a tv episode or the plot is not important. He showed so potential in h...

All Because Of You / Sue Shifrin, Jon Lind

Image
It could have been a world hit. For Cher in 1989. A song from her multi platinum album, 'Heart Of Stone'. But it wasn't released as a single. A year later David Cassidy recorded it as a duet with his future wife. I can hear their joy and happiness of working together, singing together. If someone doesn't know English, he might think that this is a very joyful song. Maybe 'Crazy Over You' should have been on that album, instead of a song already known, but it's a testimony of their happiness, and  Sue Shifrin was a very talented songwriter.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATn-z4PDi_I It's a shame that some fans have no idea about the songs Sue Shifrin wrote, but know better how  David Cassidy's private life looked like. Anyway I've thought about that songs while reading  about The London Music Walk Of Fame Criteria. DC meets the criteria on more than one count. Music Icon of course and Inspirational. He inspired many people in music business and ...

'..My Fans Go For My Music..'

Image
It's just a fragment taken out of context, from the interview published in November 1972, Hit Parader Magazine. DC was asked if he didn't care being compared to eg Jane Fonda. Did he object?. David answered that it was silly, and that he was compared to many people, men and women, and that he had given up caring. 'The whole day is filled with so many silly things and I can't let these little things get to me. If I did, then I'd have gone out of my mind long ago..' Maybe a song, something carefree and happy. The last days were difficult, fighting for The London Music Walk Of Fame Artist Stone Honour for David Cassidy, and an unpleasant exchange of opinions that destroyed the peace in our small world of David's fans.. 'All I Wanna Do Is Touch You'. Written by Irwin Levine  and L. Russell Brown. The B side of the single 'Cherish', released in September 1971. Irvin Levine (he died in 1997) and L.Russel Brown. They wrote together one song I really...

The Bravo Poster

But the song first. The fabulous "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams', wrote by David and Sue..I've been listening to it today and dreaming a little bit. To be 40 again and have a good dancing partner. Because this song is soo wonderful ..paso doble. It starts slowly and later that passion and drama..Magic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXTNpuu74IA Maybe I shouldn't write this blog today, but I can't help myself. It started from thinking about our petition. The London Music Walk Of Fame. So hard work, we make videos (Sharron), we write about DC and his music legacy, we have support (Tony Prince, David Hamilton, Anthea Turner, Keith Atack) ..and we have 845 signatures. What can we do more? So I've decided to have a look at The Website's FB page. What David's fans like reading. Which updates are the most popular?  One more great dancing number. A quick - step this time. I love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJZRRekOYqk And I've had some big surprises. F...

'David Cassidy : The Rockstar Who Time Forgot'

Image
But first our petition. London Music Walk Of Fame .  We are so happy for each signature and for the comments fans write. Very moving read. We need more. We need many more, so please do this little thing for David Cassidy and sign. We can make it happen, together, all fans wherever we live. And we DC's fans live everywhere. I know. I can see where my readers are from. Europe (also in Ukraine and..Russia), America (North and South) and  Caribbean, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and even in Africa, Sometimes I have to check where some countries are. Like Vanuatu. This is the link. Please sign. https://chng.it/NgppymDR6K Yesterday was another 21st, 55 months have passed. A lot of time.  When David Cassidy died it was like the world stopped for a moment. So many tweets from celebrities and fans, so many words full of sadness and regret. So many shared memories. Millions of tweets. A tsunami of love. And really a great amount of articles about David, how he was underrated, h...

'David Cassidy MUST be on The Music Walk of Fame'

Image
First the link to the petition. Please sign and don't be afraid. And don't hesitate. It's very easy and please remember there is no need to pay anything, everything is secure. No costs, no worries. Today is another anniversary, another 21st. Let's do it for David.. https://chng.it/NgppymDR6K 'David must be on the MWoF' Those words are not mine (but it's my opinion of course), but David Hamilton's. We have his support and it means a lot for us. He's sent Sharron that message : 'David Cassidy MUST be on The Music Walk of Fame.  I remember hosting his concerts at Wembley and interviewing him on Radio 1 in the 70s. He was a huge star. Such was his following that so many of his fans worship him today. ONE OF THE TRUE GIANTS OF MUSIC, a great actor and seller of millions of records.   'Give me a D...give me an A..'  David Hamilton, a legendary radio and tv personality. Born in 1938, started his career in 1959 and since then hosted over 12 000 r...

I Love You Keith!

Image
Keith Partridge? To be a teen again and have such a neighbour..Yes..I can imagine. No, not Keith P., but Keith Atack. I always had a soft spot for him. In the 70s he was a member (with his twin brother, Tim) of the British pop group Child. Keith and Tim were born in April 1959, and the band was formed in the early 70s. In the second part of that decade they had some hits, appeared on some tv programs, also on Top Of The Pops. The music ..wasn't very good, but it was fun and they looked great and were very popular with girls. And despite being a pop band in the punk age, 'Child' was voted the second most popular UK band amongst teenage girls in a 1978 poll conducted by the magazine Fab 208 So let's have a look. Keith was playing bass, his brother Tim, drums. 'Child' and a cover of 'When You Walk In the Room'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3j_6mA1FM8 They even did a cover of 'I Lost My Chance', but..better not. In 1980 it was the end of 'Chi...

I'm a little disappointed after my yesterday's blog about the Music Walk of Fame in London. So much work, some talking first with Sharron, the first draft wasn't good, I was carried away a little bit and wrote a kind of fairy tale about David (funny really), later  gathering all that info, writing again and it wasn't easy, and the result -  just 2 persons more who signed the petition..I'm sure there are more David's fans than 666..Or maybe others don't believe he will ever get such recognition.. And of course there are fans who don't understand why  DC should be remembered. I know such fans, English ones. :  'It was half a century ago..In the 70s you weren't interested in music played in the 20s Weronika, and now you want people start listening to DC again?' 'I know there will not be new fans, but he should be more known, more appreciated  I don't like when people say  : 'David Cassidy? First heard'. Or even worse  - 'Davi...

Music Walk Of Fame Stone Honour For David Cassidy

Image
Music Walk Of Fame in London. I can’t imagine a better place, a better tribute for David Cassidy to have a stone there. It would also be a great tribute for his fans in the UK, they always loved David and never let him down. The feeling was mutual. He loved his fans and he called London his second home David Cassidy never was Keith Partridge in the UK. His success started before the show was shown. It was his music and his image which made him a huge star there. A superstar. When he was to come on tour the most popular newspapers had special editions on him, he gave hundreds of interviews. His singles and albums charted in the UK like in any place on Earth. In the 70s, 80s and after 2000. In total with singles he had 2 UK number 1s ('How Can I Be Sure' and 'Daydreamer'), 6 UK Top 10s, 10 UK Top 40s. Albums - 1 UK number 1 ('Dreams Are Nuthin' More Then Wishes'), 5 UK Top 10s, 7 UK Top 40s. In total his records spent 221 weeks in the Top 75. David Bridger (Be...

'He Was So Pretty You Couldn't Look Away..'

Image
I've wanted to write about something else. Not about young David's beauty.  Actually about the Music Walk Of Fame in Camden Town, in London. I've talked about it with Pauline Tombs, and she's sent me a lot of info. They (MWOF) even last year wrote on their FB page about David, the teen idol, and that unforgettable Weekend At Wembely.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYsGLjjrMMY&t=1258s It always amazes me, that difference between David a teen idol, a superstar, so gentle and caring for his young fans, and the real person, so eloquent and aware and sophisticated..Anyway, let's return to Camden's Music Walk Of Fame. and the things I've learn thanks to Pauline. The London's Music Walk Of Fame was opened in November  2019. When completed, the walk is set  to feature over 400 artists - those important for Camden and also national and international icons, innovators, inspirations, visionaries within the industry and...unsung heroes. So far only 4 artists w...
