David Cassidy On The Radio..the 70s

I'm a great fan of David Cassidy's radio interviews. He had such an amazing voice, it's  a great pleasure just to listen to him, concentrate on the things he said not his looks.. During his career he gave about 200 radio interviews we know about, but I think there were  more.. He was interviewed by many legendary radio personalities. In the 70's by David Hamilton, Brian Matthew, Jack de Manio, Michael Wave, Tony Blackburn, Peter Powell and Tony Prince.

But we don't have a whole list  from the 70's, only a few audio  recordings  and 2 or 3 of them are of good sound quality .Not a single interview from 1971, can you believe it ?? The first one DC's radio appearance is from February 19th 1972,  Radio KOV, Pittsburg, PA.  It was an interview promoting his first American's concert that year. His previous concert was on December 5th, 1971, so everybody was very excited,  a huge crowd of screaming fans gathered outside the building. and DC several times called out the window - 'Push back! Please! Push back! '

It's difficult to believe but there are only two surviving American radio interviews from the decade when he was the most famous in his native country. The other  existing one is from May 8, 1975, Radio KUHF, Houston..and what a shame that a quality of it is so poor...because this is the strangest interview I've ever heard..DC was talking about his new album, that at last he could do what he wanted, and why didn't he want to go on tour..but later..he phoned someone, some other people arrived, it looks more like recorded private conversation, not an interview. I hope someone with better hearing than me, and of course better knowledge of English  will listen to it and tell us something more..

The most interesting  are Radio Luxembourg's interviews. Long and sincere, more like friends' conversations than interviews, DC was on RL in 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976, But recordings we have are barely understandable, they are  even worse  than those I remember from my teenage years, when I tried listening to RL every evening. The first part of 1976 interview is a little better, David was talking about 'Home Where The Heart Is' album..But , it's a hard work listening to the audio. What a shame because it seems that he talked about every single track from that album..

There are 20 David Cassidy's radio appearances from the 70's  we know about, among them 1 concert audio (March 11, 1973 gig was broadcast on Dutch radio)..and one advert, that's all..This is the link to a very short one, but at least of  great quality, 1974 David Cassidy interview for BBC
