Happy Birthday Dante.. Daniel Bonaduce

He was born Dante Daniel Bonaduce on 13th August 1959 in Broomall, Pennsylvania..Before The Partridge Family, appeared on 7 tv shows, the first one was in 1967. Both his parents were in showbusiness (writers). After TPF he was on (among other credits)..Police Story (1975), Fantasy Island (1978), That '70's Show (1998-2001, 2 episodes), Less Than Perfect (with David Cassidy, 2005), CSI (2006), and of course with Mark Hamill in the film called 'Corvette Summer' (1978), it was first Mark's appearance after the unexpected success of Star Wars.  A box office hit, even that critics didn't like it. Danny on TPF..he was a true comedy talent, one of the best ever child actors, so natural and funny and with a such distinctive, great voice. It's not a surprise that later in life he made a career in radio. He was so good that many TPF's episodes were written with him in mind..And with David of course. Those two were the real stars of the show with the chemistry between them, how they tricked each other and beautifully played brotherly rivalry and brotherly love. For Danny, David always was his big brother on and off screen..to the end.

We all know the anecdotes from the set..During DC's famous appearance on KLOS LA  radio in 1989, David was talking with Danny on the phone. If you listen to it from min 15 you will have a big laugh and also learn Danny's nickname..invented by David..During that conversation he told Danny three times - 'I miss you'...

We also know about his very difficult home life, Dave Madden and Shirley Jones took  him home sometimes. There were a lot of young kids who watched TPF for Danny, he was popular, so some people wanted to earn more money on him. In 1973 Danny recorded his solo album..The single from it called..'Dreamland' was a minor hit. Here he sings another song - 'Save a Little Piece For Me'..Poor Danny..

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. That tv series was shown in my country I think in 1978, and everybody watched it, also a lot was written about the cast. So one day I read that Kay's husband was a former teen idol, David Cassidy. They Said I Changed A Lot..

Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
