A Grammy For David...One Day Maybe..

I'm disappointed or rather surprised, that not many people appreciate a Grammy for Henry Diltz. That David Cassidy is listed as one of those 'music legends' photographed by him. The info about it is not on the website..I don't know why..Anyway, it's made me think about the awards DC got in his lifetime, and if it's possible he will ever get a Grammy.

It's such an irony that at the very beginning of his career, when he didn't expect it, DC was nominated not only for a Grammy but also a Golden Globe. But not as David Cassidy, but as a member of The Partridge Family. In 1971.

David Cassidy :'We were nominated for Grammy and Golden awards, none of which we won. Our show and music weren't quite credible enough; they were too commercial, too kid-oriented. That I got nominated for Grammys seemed pretty extraordinary to me, considering that before I was hired for TPF I had never even had aspirations of becoming a recording artist.' (David Cassidy : 'Could It Be Forever?', 2007)

He was so young and I think it must have been such fun being there, with all those great musicians. The same year, 1971, DC got the award for The Most Promising Actor at the 50th annual Photoplay Golden Medal Awards.

Of course David didn't work for awards, he was young, at the beginning of his career, and already so successful. Who could have guessed in 1971 that he would never be nominated for a Grammy again, for any of those wonderful albums he recorded. That Grammy Awards would get his friends, or people who debuted on his albums in the 70s.

He was such a promising actor, it's obvious when we watch his pre Partridge Family roles, but also he was really outstanding as Keith. At first sight Keith is just a very pretty boy, a superstar, but he goes to school, has good manners, listen to his mum. He is not very smart and rather boring, we know what expect from him. But on the other hand Keith is the loneliest member of his family. So insecure, sensitive, so very easy to hurt and be manipulated. Even the way he stands with his hands usually crossed in front of him as he wants to fence himself off the world..Like David in real life.

DC got only one Emmy nomination, in 1978. For playing Officer Dan Shay. That 30th Primetime Emmy Awards were held on September 17, 1978, and broadcast on CBC. David was nominated in a category called - Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series. At the same ceremony Meredith Baxter lost too..During her career she was nominated 5 times, but never won..

In 1989 Kay Lenz got Emmy, and what more her character name was ..Tina Cassidy. Can you believe it? Life is funny.

Susan Dey was hired for TPF because she was so pretty, she knew nothing about acting. David Cassidy : 'I remember the first time we did a scene, when they said they were going to do a close-up, she came over to me and said, 'What's a close-up?'. Susan Dey is a three- time Emmy Award nominee and six-time Golden Glob award nominee, she won the Golden Glob for Best Actress in 1988..

I hope he didn't mind ..much
