David Cassidy In Popular Culture. Part 2. TPF

Recently I have been asked to have a look  and read some Google Alerts on David Cassidy and TPF. Review the old ones , starting with 2010, and deal with new ones. In English (alerts). .
Those old ones were hard, a lot about DC's personal problems, drinking, bankruptcy, divorce, and after November 2017..'David Cassidy, born...a former...died...' So many of them..I've removed a lot without reading..But it's very interesting what can we find about DC and TPF on Internet. I will try to make some cathegories..But first a song. The Partridge Family of course, it's cold and..snowing..I need some sunshine.


1. How to earn on DC and TPF
    There are a lot of such pages..With memorabilia from the 70s - teen mags, board games, lunchboxes, posters, paper dolls, and also original vinyl albums, sometimes very rare editions, some quite expensive, and thousands of pics..
But  real money are earned by selling new products - clothes with the TPF's logo or young David's pic..and many other things...It's a difficult problem , I know some fans who buy such things and they are very happy because of them..They are real fans, but  they don't understand that it is exactly the same situation as it was in the 70s. DC's image being exploited again..Some people again earn  money on him..Or maybe I'm wrong and there is nothing bad with it.. I will be waiting for your opinions...Together We're Better, I love this song..And Happy Birthday Brian Forster, he was born 61 years ago..


2.The Partridge Family. It's really a houshold name, at least in the UK, the US and Australia. So many articles with references to TPF or DC : '..the owner painted mod The Partridge Family- style graphics on the outside of a former Pizza Hut in Seattle'...or 'during the pandemic many bowl-haired teenagers look like they have joined the 1970s sitcom The Partridge Family'...or..'fresh faced 16 year old with a David Cassidy's style haircut..' 'TPF vibe from that family..' It's really amazing, it looks like many people miss those family's values..

3.David's haircut is number 1 again.You have no idea how many pages are about hair..and DC's hair style is  on every list of the coolest, most sexy haircuts ever and now..Poor David..A lot of people write that he had an unforgettable style, and that his haircut is  his the most known contribution in pop culture..And puka shells of course .Let's see it once more , DC and his hair, I wonder what he had thought about that performance. 'David , what are you doing in your free time? Well, I sleep a lot Tony..' 


Btw do you know that he didn't return to LA after this recording ? He was sneaked to London...DC made a lot of things undercover..

4.And of course there are some very nice articles too, really interesting interviews, FB groups, blogs and podcasts. A lot of people write about DC and TPF every day.. I learned that 'Cherish' was the first album bought by Brooke Shields ,or that Leonard Cohen was a member of TPF Fan Club and that it was very serious thing for him, and that Harry Styles dedicated a music award to Bobby Sherman, Davy Jones and David Cassidy, and it was very moving and nice of him. and I also learned about the forgotten last Shaun's album from 1980, and it was an amazing discovery for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. They Said I Changed A Lot..

Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
