'..performer who knew precisely what he was doing and reminded in control all the way. Maybe it's true that the higher they climb, the harder they fall, but Cassidy seemed to be relishing every minute of that precipitous descent (Dave Thompson). This is a fabulous, very personal concept album about stardom and the pain of a transition, from a teen idol to mature, very sure of himself artist. The maturity of David's voice and his courage is truly amazing. He made all decisions, wrote or co-wrote songs, even covers were very personal, he also played on every track - guitars, percussion and keyboards. And he worked with really outstanding musicians.

Jim Seiter (a very known LA recording producer and a session muscician, David's friend, who was with him on 74 World Tour) : 'The first day at RCA was a bit strange as some of the others were not sure what to expect(..) David came in, we said hello with a hug and he was introduced to all that were there. David and Bruce had a brief talk and headed to the piano. The band sat around and listened to what was being played(..) We recorded materials for two albums there' http://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/ConcertPages/JimmiSeiterRecollections.html

Can you imagine David's courage? The former prince of bubble gum music , for many just a prefabricated teen idol, and those professionals, amazing names : Carl Wilson, Bruce Johnston and Ricky Fataar (Beach Boys) , Ned Doheny, Lee Sklar, Bill House, Jim Gordon, Ron Tutt, Emory Gordy Jr, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell(America), Howard Kylan and Mark Volman (Flo&Eddie, The Turtles) to name a few. Those guys played with everybody..they didn't know what to expect from David, and they made great music together, they became friends, bandmates..if only David had agreed to tour to promote...

Even without touring and only promoting personally by visiting radio stations and on various tv programmes, the album was a hit in the UK, Europe and South Africa. Not the number one, in the UK charts #22, the single I Write The Songs' number 11, but it was a great achievement for someone who wanted to get a new audience and make completely different music..for adults.. And he was still learning, everybody agreed that he grew up musically a lot during the making of this album. He also became Male Vocalist of the Year in Germany. It was a great start of David Cassidy as an artist.
Bruce Johnston :'He tired me out (DC) He always wanted to work at night, all night and then on into the day. He was serious about it, though. If you look at the credits on the album - produced by David Cassidy and Bruce Johnston. That's not a lie. He worked his butt off and did a great job.(Mike Morsch :The Vinyl Dialogues)
