If I Didn't Care /Jack Lawrence/

This is a fabulous song recorded in 1939 by Ink Spots, sold 19 millions copies .19 millions, it's one of the best selling single of all time. It's nice that David's cover is mentioned in Wikipedia. I always thought that it was so extraordinary that he'd recorded it in 1974..What an unusual choice for a teen idol in the 70s, even if 20s and 30s were popular at the time...Anyway, it was a hit in the UK (number 9 in May) , I've heard some other covers and can say that DC's version is ..amazing, his smooth and dreamy voice..

He cared, and in 1991 even more. David and Sue..Both of them over 40, very career oriented, ambitious and hard working, and they never really thought about kids. What more, Sue was told that she couldn't have children..but such things happens and..she found that she was pregnant..At first two of them couldn't believe it or know what to think about it. The time came to make some important decisions.

First, on Jan3, 1991 they got married, and in the morning on February 8th, David Cassidy , Sue and their baby son , Beau, became a family. A true love at last, and the one which came just in time..

While DC was promoting his album, many people were telling him about the impact he'd had on their lives and how great would have been to see him on stage again. He decided to go on tour, funding it by himself. He felt that his new music was very good and people really wanted  to listen to him again. His first concerts in the U.S. after so many years. In the 70s he travelled by plane with his own entourage, he was driven in limousines and thousands were in ecstasy when they saw him. This time there were only 5 musicians and a van, and after 3 months of touring and paying everybody, David was left with $1000 , a star who 17 years earlier had received $ 50 000 for a single concert..But it was great to be on tour again. .And David was fantastic...and happy.

While playing at the Bottom Line in New York, September 16, 1991 David invited two special guests, men who saw how 20 year old unknown David Cassidy became a star.Tony Romeo and Wes Farrell. David showed them how he appreciated everythig they had done for him. It was a great decision to invite them. Both were only in their 50s , but Tony died in June 1995, Wes , eight months later.

And there was another blast from the past on that tour - a younger brother, not a real one,  but  someone David  really cared for..That awful kid who once annoyed him so much on the set of TPF, that David threw him on the bus , jumped behind the wheels and left the studio for a crazy ride through the streets of Hollywood. Danny Partridge... Bonaduce , a hopless case..do you know that when he was arrested in Florida while trying to buy cocaine , he had a tshirt with 'Just Say No To Drugs' slogan..and he was to host an event for anti -drug campaign?..But he was lucky, he had David Cassidy on his side, and David took him on that tour, gave him a job. He cared for this lost soul.
