Love In Bloom/David Cassidy, Richie Furay/

In 1982..of course I had no idea in the 80s what DC was doing at the time, I don't think I thought about him in that decade even once. I was very busy, I started working (very long hours) when I was 18 , I studied (extramural), I got married, had kids, we were very poor, changed our rented flats often..It was also a very bad and turbulent decade for Poland - Solidarity, economic crisis, there were ration cards for ..everything really, and it was one thing to have a card (I remember losing mine once ,and it was such a huge problem) and to get sth for them. martial law was in force for two years, there were tanks in the streets.. people  were killed, we took part in illegal demontrations,  thousands were in prison...But I was young and happy in spite of everything. When now I read about David Cassidy's life  in the 80s, I really admire his fighting spirit , how he kept reinventing himself and never gave up , even if it was so hard for him, and that he also wasn't afraid to share those problems with us...For me that part of his story is the most interesting, that attitude, to fight and also to do what you really love doing, no matter what others say..Of course you must also be ready to pay a price for such a life..

So in June 1982 David Cassidy was in Canada, and he gave several interviews on Canadian tv programmes' , one of those interviews has survived , David was tired and sincere, and very emotional while talking about the lost money, and his loyal fans, that they still were with him..and he was so genuinely grateful for kind words...

What David Cassidy was doing in Canada? It was a helping hand from Bernard Slade, The Partridge Family's creator, who was also a very successful creator of other tv shows (The Flying Nun with Sally Field or Bridget Loves Bernie - with Meredith Baxter and David Birney..) btw that last show was filmed on stage 29 next to stage 30 where The Partridge Family's was filmed and David had to watch that happy couple every day..

Anyway in 1982 David performed a whole month in Calgary, in Bernie Slade's another hit play called 'Tribute'. A review from 'Calgary Sun' :"Cassidy's whole performance is masterfully understated. He's truly a gracious actor, never once stepping outside of his character. This is a serious actor working with and for his co-stars'

Also in summer that year he met Meryl Tanz, at the party before a race at an Illinois track. They had met before , at Lexington  in 1974 , but in the 70s  Meryl  was married to the Canadian estate mogul, Mark Tanz, and wasn't impressed by a teen idol and his entourage.  She was from South Africa, four years older than David. In 1982 she was free again and looking for a new love..

So at the end of 1982, DC  returned for a while to Canada to took part in a programme called The FrankMills Christmas Special. One of the other guest star was his former step mother, Shirley Jones..(on the pic they are on the set of TPF, of course . I use only mine or Creative Commons' pics , so there is not a great choice)

Already at that time David Cassidy  got another, interesting proposition at the theatre,  on Broadway , and he was in love and he hoped that..maybe  this time it wouldn't end like in that song..
