David Cassidy In Las Vegas . Part 3. Let It Shine.

 If I ever write a book about DC it will have a title 'Let It Shine'..or better Let Him Shine.  This is that one song that I would play if someone asked me about DC's music. There is everything in it. You can hear that it was sung by a big star (and David Cassidy was a big star , and we always should remember about it) ,by someone who thought  through every word, and knew the meaning of each before singing them, every note, the song performed by a perfectionist and an actor .. there are a lot of emotions in it...there is strenght in his voice but also sensitivity even vulnerability.. .and I always feel that he is singing this song just for me..that he believes in me..Magic is here, in that voice.

David Cassidy changed EFX. About half the original songs were cut or replaced by new ones, written by DC, Bill Wray, Sue, Andrew Gold and members of the group'One Spirit', its singers were also David's backing vocals.The new libretto under David's supervision was written by David Chisholm, Don Reo and Shaun Cassidy. David's EFX had a happy ending and was funnier and brighter than the original. The rehearsals were insane, with so many changes, special effects, singers, dancers, musicians..

The new show was an overnight sensation . This is a short conversation with DC made just before the opening night. The only copy of it is on the DC website. It was on YT once, but now I can't find it..

The show was performed at 7.30 pm and 10.30 pm Fridays through Wednesdays, on Sunday only at 7.30, the ticket was $70 , included a drink, tax, tip and program. 9 , sometimes 10 shows a week, 50 weeks a year for 2 years...Insane. David Cassidy received a lot of awards for his performance. He was voted 'The Best Singer', 'The Best All Round Performer' EFX - The Best Production Show. DC was responsible for bringing in over 1 million paying customers who came to see the show..He didn't leave Las Vegas when he ended his EFX's adventure, and I'll write about his other projects later ,and also about the price he paid for that constant work. 

Now it's time to write about sth we fans, have been waiting for since 2018 , DAVID CASSIDY STAR on the Las Vegas Walk Of Stars..Fans from all over the world gathered money for it..this is something he absolutely deserved and in my opinion MGM should...but maybe it's better that way, each of us will have own share in it. The new date is April, 12th, 2022.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. That tv series was shown in my country I think in 1978, and everybody watched it, also a lot was written about the cast. So one day I read that Kay's husband was a former teen idol, David Cassidy. Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
