That night, On BBC 5 , on national radio, DC's version of 'How Can I Be Sure' was voted the best.. It was during the daily or rather nightly programme, called 'Sounds" which runs from 1am to 5am , presented by famous British radio presenter, writer and publisher, Dotun Adebayo. The topic of the last programme was - love songs with the question mark. The listeners proposed their fav songs, among them such known as 'Where The Broken Hearts Go' or 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow'. And when DC's How Can I Be sure was suggested by one of the listeners, everybody in the studio started talking about DC and that song's versions - about the original (Young Rascals) and Dusty Springfied's . Let's listen to Young Rascals :

They talked how handsome DC was and that everybody had a crush on him (also Dotun Adebayo who was born in 1960) , but also how good singer DC was. Even during the conversation a question was asked : 'Was David Cassidy the best singer in the world?'..Anyway, at the end of the programme , David Cassidy's performance of the song was voted the best. Here is the link to 'Sounds' which will be available for 29 days. The discussion about DC starts at 17.50 min , and the result of voting was announced at 4.04.57. That's a great UK's fans tribute to David.
I don't know how many times I've listen to this song, thousands..or more, and I'm always thrilled when David starts singing :..How can I be sure..Young David Cassidy had a great , natural voice and what Wes Farrell did with it is..a criminal case. All fans know this , but there are some no fans who read my blog so I will explain. 20 year old David looked like a teen, but his voice was..mature and powerful. David : 'Wes had some problems with the way I naturally sounded. In his opinion my voice had too much power. He wanted my voice to sound light and young and airy.(..) by alerting the tape speed , he was able to rise the pitch of my voice a half-tone above what is actually was.' (D.Cassidy :'Could It Be Forever?', 2007)
Just listen to 'Umbrella Man' how it was produced by Wes Farrell..Keith is singing
