Ruby & the Rockits..and some great concerts

David Cassidy's concerts in 2008..Just 19 in the US and Canada and 3 in the UK..Those American's concerts..Some at casinos, for audience not more than 500, some outdoor, one with Davy Jones ( in New York) There are some fans reviews on the DC website. That David Cassidy's voice was still amazing, intact, that he was an outstanding guitar player, that he talked, joked, and shook hands with fans..He played and sang great music..This is a video from one of those US's concerts (Thank you Tracey). This is just amazing, pure rock, how I wish I could have been there..and DC's performing and his commitment , 'Common Thief' sounds so exciting..And to think that some people called David Cassidy just a former teen idol or a singer for little girls..This is so unfair.

While in the UK, in November, he appeared on some tv programmes, like always DC talked and smiled a lot, but he looked tired and tense. David was happy that would start working with his brothers , the three of them.

'Ruby & the Rockits', the ABC 30 minutes sitcom was created and co-written by Shaun, starred David and Patrick (and Shirley in one  episode) and Ryan also worked at the production. David and Patrick played two Gallagher brothers. former teen idols, who in the 80s performed together in the band called 'The Rockits'. Patrick leads a quiet life with his wife and two sons, while David still performs and refuses to give up his glory days..One day, unexpectedly, he discovers that he has a teenage daughter..

The daughter was played by Alexa Vega, a  popular actress and singer. The cast was really very good, Austin Butler as one of Patrick's sons , and Katie A. Kean was great as Audie Gallagher. The first episode  was aired July 21, 2009, and the 10th (and the last) on September 2nd. 'Ruby' was a musical, family sitcom..yes like The Partridge Family, and actually some ideas from TPF were used. In each episode Alexa performed a song released onto the iTunes store. Everybody thought it would be a great success and the first episode was watched by 1.6 million viewers. It was number 2 on ABC Family's comedy debut list. The reviews were also very promising :..the writing is cute and amusing, the storyline focus on family values.(..) That's family friendly entertaiment in a nutshell, it's actually good.' ...but the ratings were low and the show was cancelled.

It's so difficult to be objective. I've watched all episodes and I think the series was really funny., a lot of jokes about selfish rock stars and it was concentrated on family values..but nothing more , I mean , Ruby was a half orphan..if she had some troubles with adapting in her new family..we'd have liked her and cared more. The best TPF's episodes were those not so funny, where there were problems and misunderstandings  like in 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Partridge', where members of the family had to find a solution, work together etc,  in my opinion it looks as the creators didn't quite know which way they wanted to go..what would happen with the characters. Of course sitcoms are sitcoms, and there were only 10 episodes..I don't know. ..I like DC's tv or film roles but for me first of all he was a great singer, and I wish DC would have left us more his music..
