To Australia With Love..Again..

David Cassidy  was in Australia for the first time in 1974. Between March 2 and 16 he played 6 very memorable concerts..He gave a lot of interviews, met with fans, and on April 22nd a doc called 'David Cassidy ; To Australia With Love was aired. This is the best copy of that film I know about.. It's just amazing..

2002 was the year of the 'Rock Me Tour' . David Cassidy started in February, played in the U.S. (25 concerts), in the UK (10 concerts ) and after more than 28 years he performed in  Australia, in November  (8 concerts). In 2002 he travelled there twice . The first time  in September (16-20) , it was a promotional visit , with a lot of  press and tv interviews. 'Then And Now' was released in Australia on September 9th. This is one of those September's tv appearances.

On September 20th DC appeared on Good Morning Australia, the host was Bert Newton, the same who was a host on that memorable Loggie Awards in 1974..

On that tour in November 2002 DC brought his musicians : Lon Bronson, Jim McIntosh - very interesting guitar player from Las Vegas, who also was with DC for a year at 'At The Copa', Gary Olds - really an outstanding drummer ,Frank Fabio - great bass player, know by all DC's fans, and also two David's background singers - Candance Davis - Martin and Lisa Mayer. Very professional band.

Australians fans waited for those DC's concerts.

"It was a night for the true believers. It was a night to remember what it was like to be young again - young and silly, they grabbed his legs and his tights 'Don't hold me there baby' he said. Someone stole laces from his shoes. The souvenir T-shirt read 'David Cassidy Rocked My World' So did he? In a way. His voice might not have the same sexy quality. But listening to DC brought back every bit of that first love fantasy. If only he would just consider wearing a long, shaggy wig next time' ( Karen Milliner :My View, Nov10, 2002)

Janet Fife-Yeomans saw  David  Cassidy performing live in the UK in the 70s and in 1985, on Broadway and in Las Vegas. But those 2002 were the best in her opinion : 'He seems to be at ease with himself and to have accepted the legacy of teen idol image playing the old TPF songs that along with his own music provided the soundtrack of the youth for the women in audience' (The Australian , Nov11, 2002).

Everywhere he went first of all he sang the same old hits :

Some people weren't impressed, in their opinion the tour was a kind of nostalgia sponsored by the TV channel and his new album was a collection of old hits and no one was interested in his present life, only his past..There was something in it..even if DC's concerts were very good, very professional shows..And sometimes the journalists' questions irritated him , the same questions, the same old story all over again..And he especially didn't like when  was asked about his daughter, 15 year old Katie, who'd just released her first song..a cover of I Think I Love You..
