Be-Bop-A-Lula / Gene Vincent, Donald Graves, Bill Davis
The first mini concert was a very private one. John Lennon and David Cassidy playing and singing together, talking and laughing and drinking wine, on New Years Eve, the last day of December 1974. What a great opening scene for the movie it would be : ' Susan woke me up and said, 'David, I think there's a Beatle in the house'' (David Cassidy: Could It Be Forever?, 2007). They were also talking about their current work, eg about DC's version of Be-Bop-a-Lula. And John also recorded that song, nearly at the same time as David. This is an outstanding, and exciting DC's version of that hit. I love it.

Of course, it's only my humble opinion, but I prefer David's. It's more personal, there is such a joy and excitement and longing and..sex in his voice. Pure rock & roll. And how it is perfectly played. Wow.
The other global superstar who played with David was Elton John. In New Zealand, in 1974. Henry Diltz made them a pic, at a dinner, Elton listens attentively, DC with a cigarette in his hand, he is the one who talks..Great pic. Elton, who at the time was also touring NZ and Australia was at DC's concert on Feb 27th at Auckland Town Hall.
From the fan's (Gail) review : ' Elton John made a surprise appearance as a pianist in the final 10 minutes (..) John and Cassidy jammed in those minutes with old favourites : 'Rock Around the Clock' and 'Jailhouse Rock' - all too short.'
Later there was a party and another jamming together at the hotel..I wonder if Elton'd played for DC the next song. I've read that David thought about recording a cover of it for 'The Higher They Climb' album. But he wanted something he wrote himself. So this is Elton and 'I'm Gonna Be a Teenage Idol'.The song written in Marc Bolan in mind, I must warn you, that this video is rather strange, but there is sth in it, and we can see some teenage idols, including Shaun, but not David.

Elton John, November22nd, 2017 : 'David Cassidy and I were really good friends in the 70s. We had so many great times together. So sad to hear of his passing. He was a lovely man.'..
