Danny Calvagna...

 I fell in love yesterday..His name was Danny and he died in February, after a long battle with Covid-19. Only 66. He was a frontman of a cover group called 45rpm. Their concerts were labeled 'The C'mon Get Happy Show'..

Of course I've heard something about it..but not much, I wasn't on FB or any social media at the time and I've never listened to this cover band, 45 rpm. And it's only when my dear American friend Judy  sent me a video with a tribute concert the group did, I've started reading and watching..Judy, she is so sweet..'in case you didn't see it', she has written. I didn't, and I'm very, very grateful.

Wow..amazing. Really much, much better than I've expected. Everything, Danny's singing and commitment, boys playing rock ..( and a very interesting drummer). Very exciting. So I've started searching for more, and the next video is even better. David Cassidy would have been proud of you Mr Calvagna, and your band too.

'I Can Feel Your Heartbeat', that was awesome..What a tragedy and loss for his family and friends. What a loss for the rest of us, David Cassidy fans. We need such charismatic singers and  bands playing DC music, bringing love and happiness.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
