Rosa's Cantina / David Cassidy, Garofala

First that amazing, fantastic track from 'Gettin' It In The Street' album, a song about boys having a good time.

Perfection. The music, arrangment, and the lyrics..just listen carefully to them. David Cassidy only needed a few words to build an atmosphere of the song. I'm sure it was him who wrote that lyrics. The co- author, Garofala is  Bryan David Garofalo, in the 70s and 80s a popular Canadian session musician, a guitarist and a bass player, who worked with David on his 3 RCA albums, and also with a lot of his friends like Kim Carnes, Ned Doheny, Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley.

Sure the boys had a great time while recording that album at Caribou Ranch in Colorado in 1976. David :' I had never been to Colorado and found that I couldn't sing up there because of altitude and because it was so dry. I lost the top few notes of my vocal range. But we had a lot of fun there. We went horseback riding every day and there was plenty of frivolity - lots of very pretty girls worked there..'(David Cassidy: Could It Be Forever?, 2007.)...Lucky girls..

Gerry Beckley (he has birthday today) produced that album with David. They wrote some songs together, 'Gettin' It In The Street', 'Cruise To Harlem', 'Living a Lie', 'Love, Love the Lady', and for 'Home Where The Heart Is' album - 'Half- past Our Bedtime' and 'Take This Heart'.

But..I've checked the Gerry's and 'America's' websites, nothing about DC, and on AllMusic it's written only  that Gerry Beckley did vocals on all DC's RCA albums, produced the third one, but you can't find on the list of his songs any one he co-wrote with David Cassidy..At least an exectutive producer of 'Gettin' It In The Street', Alan Abrahams from South Africa admits to working with David

It's a shame, David and Gerry wrote some really great songs together..Or maybe it was so many years ago that only fans remember..

PS. In 1977 when Dan Peek left 'America'..I wonder if they'd thought just for a moment about the three of them performing together..Gerry, Dewey and David..
