'I'm Listening To The Voice Of An Innocent Man'

Of course you can't write about teen mags and 'Jackie' and Words Of Love without mentioning Nina Myskow, 'Jackie's' editor in the 70s.. She was on Louise Poynton's podcast some time ago, actually in February. At the time I listened just to those fragments  she  spoke about David, to the whole podcast only yesterday. Why, you ask. Let me tell you first that I'm a great Nina's fan, and  now watch this.

And imagine listening to Nina speaking even faster for an hour, and English is not my native language. But it was worth it, really amazing conversation, Nina Myskow is a wonderful woman, so optimistic. We have a saying in Poland and I thought about it while listening to her, that she is a person with 'you can steal horses with ', someone brave and fearless, but also very loyal, and with a lot of fantasy, smart and funny. So many times she said 'I was very lucky' meeting that or that person, not a word about her own hard  work ,,

Nina Myskow shared some amazing stories about her friendship with Elton John, having a crush on and later  meeting Paul McCartney and Linda, very interesting part about Yoko Ono, meeting Princess Diana, a letter to 'Jackie' wrote by very young Emma Thompson. I love that part she talked about why teenage girls need heartthrobs, about that difficult time, time of transition from a girl to a woman, and why some people can't move on and confuse  fantasy with reality..'Choose your heroes wisely' she said. I paused listening several times to reflect on what was said..

Let's listen to another talking DC's disc for his fans, recorded in the early 1973, this time for another teen mag, Melanie

'keep on smiling forever'..

She met David Cassidy a few times. She was astonished seeing him blushed in front of photographers and journalists in the 70s, she saw Cassidymania. ' I always found him troubled' she said. Sensitive and fragile, thin skin, lonely. .But she also saw him happy with Sue and Beau at DC's birthday party. He had a lot of fun too. Really you should listen to this amazing conversation for yourself..

It was while listening to his own 'Words Of Love' many years later, that David Cassidy couldn't hide tears and told Nina - 'I'm listening to the voice of an innocent man..'
