Gary Contessa

Gary Contessa on The David Cassidy Connections, in conversation with Louise Poynton. A very long conversation, nearly 2 hours, but it was fascinating, and I can only repeat after Louise that I've enjoyed every single minute of it.

We can see in this video two friends, David Cassidy and Gary Contessa, on May 16, 2008. The horse bred by DC and co-owned by him, and trained by Gary Contessa, 3 year old Sweet Vendetta, won in the mile and eight Grade II, $ 200 000 Black-Eyed Susan stakes, at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. That race, besides the Kentucky Oaks and Acron Stakes is the most prestigious race in the USA. Black-Eyed Susan was inaugurated in 1919 and for DC this victory was like a dream comes true. The race took place in difficult conditions, in bad weather and rain, before a crowd of more than 28 000. David said that it was the biggest win of his career..

David Cassidy's friends ..amazing people who truly loved him and were for him for good and bad. There is a saying, 'your friends are  reflections of who you are' or something like that, and David's friends are people of strong personalities, with passions, independent, with own opinions and beliefs, with courage and with great sense of humor, very loyal and..they still miss him. Like a famous horse trainer, and a bass player, Gary Contessa.

It was fascinating listening to the story of his career, the story of love. Because Gary Contessa's loved horses from an early age, he wanted to know everything about horses, he always had questions to ask, he always wanted to learn, he was determined to get to know everything about horses..he was never bored with them. This is a true love.

Gary Contessa loves talking about horses and he shares his knowledge on YT. And I know nothing about horses but I watched this video with great interest anyway..

His nearly 30 year old friendship with David Cassidy..They used to go riding together, buying horses together, watching horses together, talking about them..and playing music together.

This is a story about a true friendship, understanding each other without words, being for each other..always and anytime..He saw David for the last time 2 weeks before he passed, and DC also called him  from the hospital. Like everybody Gary Contessa thought everything would be all right..

The story about David's ashes..how it really was, how it looked like. Chapeau bas! ..And 'I Think I Love You' Foundation for horse in need, the cause so close to David Cassidy's heart. Louise Poynton asked Gary about his fondest memory of David.. you really should find  time and listen to Gary and the story of love..
