'Have You Got 'David' For My Grandma?'

I didn't have even a smallest DC pic in the 70. Or a teen mag, a poster or any of his records. Nothing. And it was like that to 2018 when I made friends with some wonderful English ladies, DC fans since the 70s. We talked a lot about David, how it was to be his fans in the UK, they saw him in concerts in Manchester and in London in 1973 and again in London in 1974 and in the 80s, also in the theatre.

They started sending me amazing presents. A beautiful framed DC pic, an original giant poster, a pictorial souvenir of DC's UK tour in 1973, David Cassidy's and  The Partridge Family's annuals, TPF's comic books and nearly all copies of The Official David Cassidy Magazines. It was very moving and I just can't describe my feelings. Seeing those old mags.. they were in such good condition like they were printed not nearly half a century ago, but just a few years back..

I must confess that not  all our conversations were very serious, on the contrary, and we've discussed a lot of things I wouldn't dare writing about on my blog, and we loved sharing the most hilarious things ever written or recorded about David. Like that song

Oh yes, 'can't stop dreaming about you..', wonderful. Anyway very quickly I've had quite an interesting collection of DC's memorabilia, I put some DC pics on the walls of my bedroom, I bought some books and CD's (I love listening to them while driving). The members of my family at first very astonished or even scared by my love for David, got used to it. Some of them even read my book. They couldn't help it but  they've got to know some music. Sometimes while walking we discussed DC's depression and addiction, his relationship with Jack and what could be learnt from his life..

And on my last birthday I've got an amazing present from my son-in-law..(Aleksandrów is a part of Warsaw I live in)..But still I haven't got any original vinyl albums.

There is a shop with vinyls near my daughter's flat. And once  she went inside and asked about DC's albums. The man looked with astonishment at a very attractive young woman and a boy who looked like Christopher Robin. "No, I don't have any. No one has ever asked about him'.

Since then, when it happened that they were walking by that shop, my grandson looked inside for a moment and called out - 'Have you got 'David' for my grandma???'. And one day the man said - 'Yes! I have !!'. He had 2 albums and  now I'm a proud  owner of  'The Higher They Climb The Harder They Fall' and 'David Cassidy's Greatest Hits'. I've forgotten to add that I don't have a record player. But it will change. I've just got an email that a record player I bought on the last day of 2021 will be delivered tomorrow , and I'm looking forward to the moment I start listening..
