Jefferson Kelly
Wonderful Tracey Wright again, a fellow-fan and so valuable member of The David Cassidy Great Britain Group. She's found it and shared with us. And this is something really extraordinary, the episode of a tv show, the episode with David Cassidy, which I never expected I'd see. I'm so grateful.
The tv series, called The John Larroquette Show was aired on NBC from September 2, 1993 until October 30, 1996. And even that it was never really popular, it has a loyal cult following. Betty White ( who died recently) appeared in one of the episodes and got an Emmy Award for it. It was a sitcom about a recovering alcoholic who becomes the manager of a big city bus station. One critic called it 'sitcom noir', and the first 13 episodes represented the '12 Steps' of AA..
Let's first watch the opening scene and listen to the theme song, wrote and performed by David Cassidy.

David Cassidy : "I wrote and recorded the theme song for The John Larroquette Show on NBC. It's a bluesy little song; whenever I pick the guitar, instinctively I always end by playing the blues.(..)..although JLS is written and produced by a friend of mine, I wanted my work to speak for itself, so I submitted the demo tape that I'd recorded under the pseudonym, Blind Lemon Jackson..' (David Cassidy : Could It Be Forever? , 2007)
That friend was Don Reo (born in 1946), a writer and producer, who started his career in 1970. He and Shaun helped David rewirte The EFX, and later Don Reo co-wrote and co-produced with DC - 'The Rat Pack Is Back!' and 'At The Copa'. But he wasn't the only friend David met while appearing on The John Larroquette Show..Paul Junger Witt (1941-2018) was one of the producers. Very known and successful tv and film producer (Dead Poets Society, Three Kings, Insomnia) The producer of the 25 first The Partridge Family episodes. David and Paul met in 1969, at the audition..
Paul Junger Witt : 'He (DC) read for us and knocked us out (..) In casting the part of Keith, we were looking for someone who could act and could at least show potential for learning how to do comedy. Ideally we were also looking for someone who could sing. (..) if we could get a heartthrob..(..) The whole package walked in and read for us. David was the guy. He could do it all.'
Oh yes, he could..
