Jon Provost on The David Cassidy Connections

I've never seen that 'Lassie', it wasn't shown on our Polish tv,  so before listening to Louise Poynton's new conversation, the first this year, I've watched her guest in his most famous role. Here is 10 year old Jon Provost as Timmy Martin.

Great, timeless show, and Jon Provost's role is truly iconic, people loved Timmy and his dog.

I just don't know how to start. I'm so overhelmed.  I've listened to that interview twice today, also because I've had some difficulties with understanding, and like always before writing a new blog I've gone for a walk (it was awfully dark and cold) and ..still can't find right words, because this conversation speaks for itself, everything is important, the questions and the answers, the things that were said and the way it was done, maybe my review should be very short - 'The first Louise's podcast which has made me cry and left speechless, go and listen for yourself.'

But I will try  Let's first watch a tribute video, so we can see some pics with a teenage Jon from the time he went to the same high school as David Cassidy..

Jon's parents were wonderful people, and had nothing to do with showbusiness, and Jon got his first role when he was 2 only because his mother was a huge Jane Wyman's fan..He became a very known child star, playing Timmy Martin for 7 seasons. When he was 14 his parents let him decide what he wanted to do, and Jon wanted to move forward and he left the show..

Jon and David were together at Rexford. To be a teen in  California in the second part of the 60s .. They were good pals, had mutual friends ( including Sal Mineo), and like every teenager at that time and in that place on Earth, they went to concerts, played in garage bands, wanted to become rock stars..sex, drugs & rock'n'roll..Jon Provost said that it was wonderful in 1966, 1967, but later things started going dark, heavy drugs appeared, and he resigned from an acting career and left California. He went to college, got married, had kids..Didn't see David for the next nearly 30 years.

What are his memories of David..Wonderful, smart, caring, great friend..A friend Jon tried to help when they met again in the late 90s. He also had issues with alcohol so he saw David's struggles, his pain..Why do people get addicted? Why it's so hard to help? Why it was impossible to help David even if many, many people loved him and only waited for an opportunity  to help. Jon Provost said that he and David didn't have a normal childhood, and also how David was always so proud of his father but he didn't give that back. Jon was very emotional during the conversation, stopped a few times because he couldn't speak. How painful was watching 'The Last Session'..

Just listen for yourself. Thank you Louise Poynton and Jon Provost.
