The Happy Trail To Liverpool And a Ticket To Ride by Sharron Liddle
We came from different corners of the Uk to meet up at Liverpool to celebrate together David’s birthday and his Las Vegas Star .
Liverpool is a part of David’s legacy trail in the Uk as he performed at Liverpool on many occasions.
He often talked about his meeting with John Lennon, reminiscing and singing one of his favourite Beetles songs “ In My Life".
David also had an amazing knack of speaking with a Liverpudlian accent as he did in Blood Brothers which was also a play based in Liverpool. So there really is a connection between David Cassidy and Liverpool.
We decided our first visit would be to the beautiful Liverpool Cathedral and the commemorative brick the DC Great Britain Group had installed with the words “ in my life I love you more “ .
We each lit a candle for David .
Now this has to be one of those memorable moments when all of us are together. As we stood by the brick I decided to do a live Facebook video which we shared with everyone in GB group .
We played David singing the beautiful song on Tracey Wright’s phone then Anita O’Neil brought out her beautiful blanket of David .
Josie Knox holding the other side , the blanket gently blew in the wind as David's voice echoed around us . Together we felt the emotion and united love we all have for this man whom we will always miss so very much .
Gillian Priestly shared …
“What a fabulous couple of days celebrating David’s birthday visiting the People’s Path tribute in Liverpool. An emotional journey - we have laughed, cried but most of all had an absolute blast with very special friends all brought together because of this amazing man. The outpouring of love for David we have seen over the past few days both here and in Vegas has been simply phenomenal, so happy to see he now has his Star, so well deserved. He ‘just wanted to make us happy’ and still is but really wish he were still here to see just how much
One of the girls , Anita O’Neil had a tattoo done on her wrist with “ in this life , I love you more “ and David's signature inscribed to remind her of David's birthday and this very special day . The Tattoo artist played David's music for Anita while she was getting her tattoo .
We took a ticket to ride on an open top bus .
Jayne Parker wrote ..
“ I think we all had a wonderful time in Liverpool celebrating what would have been David’s 72nd Birthday.
Going to The Anglian Church to see the Path of Peace was so emotional. There was a few tears, including myself, I think I started it off. Sharron did a Fabulous video there.
Later we went on an open bus tour. The tour guide found out about David’s Birthday, thanks to Sharron. Then the whole bus sang Happy Birthday to David, led by the tour guide”
We walked across the many streets of Liverpool, soaking up the atmosphere and listening to that wonderful Liverpudlian accent that David impersonated so well.
Tracey Wright wanted to say ..
“David my first love, I love and miss you, hope you had a lovely birthday in heaven and hope you are feeling the love after your Vegas star ceremony, happy trails, all my love always Tracey xxx”
Doreen Walker said ..
“What a fab couple of days in Liverpool, so emotional at the cathedral see the stone in the People's Path. A great time was had by all.”
We sat around together to have a meal on Albert Dock and did a FaceTime video with Pauline Tombs , Roz Currie , Tim Edwards and Paula Noverraz who were in London at the Phoenix theatre and the Phoenix Garden. David has brought so many friends together from across the globe .
This was a Global Celebration of David Cassidy finally getting his Las Vegas Star .
Together we all took that ticket to ride and came together as one .
