David Cassidy - To Australia With Love
We should really be grateful for the documentaries we have. Weekend at Wembley is great, the same can be said about 'David Cassidy. To Australia With Love'. The love was mutual as we can see while watching this amazing film.
The World Tour 1974. David Cassidy wrote about it : 'The last world tour turned out to be a circus. We were all partying hard - the band, the security people, everybody. If you ask me what I remember from that tour, the hijnks and escapades come to mind before any of the concerts themselves.' (David Cassidy : Could It Be Forever?, 2007).
Yes, we have read about it of course, they had a lot of fun, but I'm not going to write about those lucky ladies (and Gina L.). But first of all DC and his people were working very hard in those very difficult circumstances. Almost nothing went as planned. The most crazy tour ever. And the concerts.. The heat. The wind. The fans trying to get on stage, The collapsing scene. The fans throwing toys, flowers and..shoes on stage. There was some advanced publicity about how David liked Koalas and after the show (Sydney) there were about 20 large trash bags full of toy koalas.. At the Sydney's concert about 60 girls were slightly injured and more were treated because of heat exhaustion. Later in Malbourne was even worse. And David Cassidy in the middle of that hysteria, performing and giving 100%, like everything was just a great fun..

That document is really extraordinary. The camera records everything and these images tells us more than the longest comment.
The excited fans at the airport, DC on a plane trying to have some quiet time for himself, Henry Diltz making pics..Some people are sleeping..That apparent calm ends when the plane lands. Fans surrounding the car and fighting with the security, crowds of journalists waiting for DC.
Sydney Morning Herald: 'Getting into his press conference was rather like trying to gatecrash the Kremlin (..) He was worth waiting for..Cassidy seemed a little weary.'. DC like always eloquent, and sincerely admitting he had no idea how Australia looked like. Another interview at the harbour..The concert footage is just amazing. but I think I like the most that fragment when he meets with fans, with those 3 girls. So aware how important it is for them. So even that he looks really tired, and it is just a very short conversation, and he got millions of such presents, he tries his best..there is something very moving in it. Gentelness, authentic care..
Amazing film
