Heart Of Emotion / Alan Tarney, David Cassidy

How happy must have been David Cassidy in June 1985. At least he talked a lot about his happiness in countless interviews. Also about a marriage bliss.  He worked so hard to promote his new LP, 'Romance'. He had a photo session with..a popular person, videos were made. We have the list of 45 DC's guest tv appearances from 1985 on the website, and I know it's not everything.  Morning and kids programes, Top Of The Pops, the most popular music programs in Holland, Germany, Italy, Belgium and France. The most popular talk shows in the UK. David singing in the company of some pink baloons (many of them) or talking about his music..half naked, in a bath..

Amazing..

The single The Last Kiss/ The Letter was released by Arista in February 1985, it hit number 6 in the UK in March, and the album hit number 20 on June 9th, 1985. 37 years ago. We know that David Cassidy didn't have any support when BMG acquired Arista, and fired the whole staff. But I like checking everything myself, so I've had a look at those old charts. On June 9, 1985 , the number 1 was Bryan Ferry's 'Boys and Girls'..nr 4 - Dire Straits 'Brothers In Arms', 5 - Bruce Springsteen 'Born In The USA'..16. Paul Young..19. New Order, 20. David Cassidy, 21. Bryan Adams - 'Reckless'. Very good company. Next week, 'Romance' dropped to nr 36, at the end of June was 44.

'Romance' album was very mainstream, the middle 80s kind of music, a lot of electronics. David's producer and co-writer, Alan Tarney had a great success with Cliff Richard's number 1 hit from 1979, 'We Don't Talk Anymore', and in 1985 he produced the second version of 'A-ha''s first single 'Take On Me'. But all effects, all the electronics couldn't hide David's wonderful voice, so strong and so full of emotions, like always he was singing about love..I think this is my fav song  from that album.
