'I Kissed..David !'

The weather is to blame. It's like living in a sauna and waiting for a storm. It's so tiring..Anyway  yesterday I wrote about Austin Butler, the new Elvis, and his old role on 'Ruby and the Rockits' as Jordan Gallagher. And today I've wanted to write about the reasons the show was cancelled so fast. And also about my fav episode in which DC teaches Jordan/Austin on songwriting. Austin sang a few songs on 'Ruby'. I'd love to know what DC had thought about that teenager.  Austin was born in 1991, he was 18 when he performed in 'Ruby'

But suddenly I thought to myself - 'Who cares? Really, who cares why the show was cancelled? No one'.  Because let's face it, we fans of course appreciate DC's stage, tv or even film roles, but first of all we are still in love with David Cassidy..the most gorgeous man ever. 

We love to admire those old pics, we watch his tv appearances just to look at him (and his smile) and hear his voice. And we later write comments, and very often we use the present tense, as he were still alive. There is even one FB group called 'DC Lives In Our Hearts'..This is really extraordinary, and I'm afraid it will be like that to the rest of our days. And we listen to his songs all over again..And we love those old ones the best.

Of course it was like that from the beginning. That worship..I hope DC didn't read eg Music Star Annual 74. My friend B. gave it to me when I was in the UK last month. So far I haven't time for it, but because of that heat I've made myself a bucket of iced coffee and started..maybe not reading (I'm not 10 years old) but browsing in amazement,,Wow..Tiger Beat had a competition (in 1972) and the prize was - a kiss from David. We know how he hated being treated like a demigod..like that thing..

I'm not laughing or anything. I'm just wondering. In that Music Star there were DC's pics and a lot was written why fans loved DC and some of those statements are not different from anything we write ..now, after 50 years. Eg.:

'What you mean to me? - You are the sunshine. You brighten up my every day.'

'I would love to spend the day by your side.'

'If only I could meet you, I know we'd get along beautifully'


Of course David wasn't the only star who was treated that way (by the teen mags). In the same Music Star we can read similar stories about Donny O., Marc Bolan or Williams brothers. But only the David's kiss was a main prize.  The lucky winner was Sue Poitier from Denver in Colorado..

Some people have all the luck..

    As both David and Shaun had say in casting,my guess is David admired and liked Austin as he did the entire cast!In a sense, Shaun and David discovered Shaun in a way and I am sure Shaun is very proud and David would Beas well.

      I've read once again that old entry. I haven't written that DC cast Austin Butler, but only I'd have liked to know what he'd thought about him

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. They Said I Changed A Lot..

Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
