David Cassidy on 'Good Night America', July 4, 1974
1. our petition. I've thought that a lot of DC's American fans would sign it, after all Tony Prince said: 'David Cassidy was one of America's great music export, one of the really great voice.', but it looks I was wrong.
2. About the Fourth of July. It's made me..nostalgic, because I remember so well the Independence Day in..1976. It was sooo many years ago. Poland was at the time still a communist country, but after 1975 we had more freedom, even Pepsi - cola appeared in our shops, We could see some footage from the USA on that day. It was so exciting to watch, a different world..
3. And of course David Cassidy on 'Good Night America', 48 years ago, in conversation with Geraldo Rivera. This is my favourite DC's interview from the 70s. Really extraordinary, the things he said, the way he talked, and last but not least how he looked. His face, his voice..mesmerizing..

But that interview wasn't easy for him. When DC came back from the World Tour, he immediately flew to his estate in Hawaii, turned off the phone, spending his time on the beach, trying to have some rest..and to forget. Bernadette Whelan died on May 30. But he had just a few days of peace. The press wrote about him all the time. Not only because of the death of his fan, but also because of the Wall Street swindle. He lost $ 300 000..
He returned to Los Angeles. 'Good Night America' was broadcasted from July 1973, a late night, influential and popular newsmagazine, hosted and produced by Geraldo Rivera. David was obviously still exhausted, but he looked gorgeous, and his answers were so sincere, intelligent and thoughtful. This was the first of the countless interviews when he had to explain why he never didn't want to be a teen idol.
He was so calm answering some difficult questions. And maybe once he looked irritated when Rivera asked him about his young fans..David answered that he got so much energy from them. His audience, those young kids were sincere, they didn't pretend when they really liked someone..He always was for us..

Nearly 800 fans have signed the petition so far and I think that is quite an achievement considering there is probably many of a certain age group that may find technology a challenge and perhaps are a little wary of giving their email addresses out .
ReplyDeleteHowever , the petition platform we are using is a reputable one and petition.org doesn’t use information without permission. It’s simple to tick the boxes and support our mission to get David an Artists stone in London.
