The Summer of 1978..

Old habits die hard, and since December 2020 I've been writing about David Cassidy..a lot. Nearly every evening, regardless what happens in my life. Sometimes I'm tired, or have daubts if an entry is interesting enough, but I just love writing about him and his music. And while doing it thinking about the past.

So I've read recently an interview Ken Mansfield gave our webmaster, Jane, about his memories from the summer of 1978, when he was working with David Cassidy, producing his fabulous album which was released much later.

And I have a lot of memories from the summer of 1978. Maybe it's a reason I love so much those songs recorded by DC 44 years ago

Ken Mansfield, the former U.S. manager of Apple Records, a high-ranking executive for several record labels, a songwriter, a Grammy winning album producer. He worked with the greatest, also with DC. He wrote some very popular books, one of them, published in 2007 is called 'White Book : The Beatles, the Bands, the Biz: An Insider's Look at an Era", in which he included a chapter about his work and friendship with David Cassidy.

Ken Mansfield initially turned down the project, didn't want to work with a former teen idol. But they met for dinner one night just to see how they got along and : "..we immediately cliked. David had it all as far as I was concerned (..) it took me about 10 minutes after meeting him to realize my original opinion was 100% wrong. He had a super sense of material and that wonderful voice that allowed him to take on any vocal challenge..'

They were working together and they partied together, they became friends. That part of the interview  Ken Mansfield telling Jane about his friendship with DC is very moving. This is the link  -
