The Partridge Family. Season 4

I'm writing the synopsis for "Pin It On Danny', the episode from Season 4. When I finish it, the S4 will be completed. Only 3 episodes left to finish our project. 

The Season 4. We can read in the article from 'People Magazine', published on June 17th, 1974 : 

"He (DC) had outgrown his ABC series, TPF. 'It was four years on the same set, same faces, same words,' he says, 'My God, it was stagnating'. The public felt the same way. Consigned to a euthanasia time slot opposite 'All in the Family', the show finished at last count 64th among the 64 series on the air, and has been cancelled..'

From the episode 'Miss Partridge, Teacher', a fragment of one of my fav TPF's song. Written by Wes Farrell, Danny Janssen and Bobby Hart. And just wonderfully sang by David Cassidy.

Yes, we know all this, there were many reasons, and of course DC had enough, was so tired and exhausted,  on the many screenshots from S4 his eyes are closed like he wanted to be somewhere else, and there was Ricky and the Williams brothers, but I can't help it, I love Season 4. The songs mostly from "Bulletin Board, and some great  unreleased ones, and DC singing them looked like a teen idol more than on any other TPF's season. And his long hair..

A lot of wicked, even surreal humor, some risky but very funny scripts, e.g. Laurie as a Keith's girlfriend in 'Keith and Lauriebelle', David dressed as a sensational Easter Bunny, great guest stars, Alan Oppenheimer (who was with very young DC on Ironside, was born in 1930 and still works!), as a little bit mad Lorenzo Bernard in love with Shirley's awful paintings..and wonderful Margaret Hamilton as Clara Kincaid..Keith and Laurie, arguing and so often having different opinions..David and Susan..she couldn't hide her feelings.

And Danny Bonaduce, he is just sensational. It's not easy to be a middle child in a family, have such an older brother and to be clumsy 13 year old yourself. That episode Pin It On Danny, so easy to get into trouble. He makes me laugh, but he also makes me think about the time I was that age..

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. They Said I Changed A Lot..

Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
