David Cassidy, Lord M. and Sharron

The story of the latest tribute to David Cassidy is so extraordinary, uplifting..like a ray of sunshine in that difficult month, November.  I just can't find words to describe my feelings.

David Cassidy's concert tour in March 1973 and his stay at Beaulieu. David remembered by the information board..His name and the year of birth and death. That visit  took place 49 years ago. This tribute makes me sad and happy at the same time. It's very emotional seeing it.

A song. About sunshine

The David Cassidy's legendary concert tour in Europe in March 1973. The main problem was security of course. In February 1972, Dorchester where he stayed was besieged by fans, and in September 1972 he lived on a yacht. The Heathrow Airport authorities had put a ban on any announcements of expected arrivals of pop stars. It took a lot of effort to find a safe place for him while he was in the UK. The first concerts of that tour were in Germany, he was later in Spain (tv program), Belgium, Luxembourg and of course there was the great concert at  De Doelen, in Rotterdam.

Those first concerts and screaming fans on the Continent were just a kind of prelude of what was waiting for David in England..At last the big day came - Monday, March 12, 1973. And instead Manchester, David landed in Luton..

At the time just a couple of people knew where David had stayed. That top secret place was Beaulieu Palace House, a 13th century great house owned by Lord and Lady Montagu..

Later some pics were published. David with Lady Montagu, drinking tea, fishing, sight seeing. In that fabulous, long fur coat (I know, I know but they were in vogue in the 70s and besides he was a superstar). Many years passed, David Cassidy is no longer with us, but his visit at Beaulieu House wasn't forgotten. It still belongs to the family.

The current Lord, born in 1961, didn't meet DC in 1973, he was at boarding school at the time. But of course he knew about that visit, And one day in 2021, I don't know exactly when,  he got an email, from a David Cassidy fan. Not an ordinary one. Sharron Liddle. They started working together on that project.

Lord Montagu : 'I have Sharron Liddle to thanks for re-igniting my interest in David and commemorating his visit to Beaulieu (..) I am only sorry that I was never able to welcome him back to Beaulieu myself..'

Thank you Sharron. Thank you Lord Montagu.
