Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town / J.Fred Coots, Haven Gillespie

It's not too soon. Actually the song originally became an instant hit in November 1934. Released at the height of Great Depression, it brought love and light, and that first version included lyrics encouraging listeners to be charitable..Something we should remember about this year too.

That Christmas standard was recorded by over 200 artists, including The Partridge Family, the song from  'Christmas Card', released by Bell in ..yes, November 1971. I'm glad the info about it is on Wikipedia.

And I'm happy because this is my grandsons' fav Christmas song, and all the neighbours have to listen to us singing with David..

So it's not too early, just have returned from shopping, and listened for the first time this season to..I'm sure you know what to. Every year the same, and I'm sorry for poor George Michael and his evergreen standard.

He wrote it himself  in December 1983. 'Last Christmas' was released by Wham in December 1984. In the mid 80s George Michael was sued for plagiarism. 'Can't Smile Without You' was written in 1975, and in 1976 recorded by Carpenters, but it was later version which became number 1. Yes, Barry M. again. But of course we know who sang a hit quite similar, in 1973. And George Michael was a David Cassidy's fan at the time. During his the UK tour in 1985, David sang fragments of those 2 songs, and also.. 'Joanna' (Kool & the Gang hit from November 1983)

I wonder what he'd thought while singing. That life is not fair. No, it isnt.

So while shopping I've been thinking that we should write to radio stations and ask for playing The Partridge Family's Christmas songs. Especially for that gem. Another Tony Romeo's masterpiece wrote for young David, 51 years ago..'To you and all your family, your neighbors and your friends..May all your days be happy with a joy that never ends..' Thank you Tony Romeo and David Cassidy for that wonderful song.
