'Show Got Canceled, He Went Away'

After nearly 2 months a new entry. A very short one. But I just have to write it. Maybe a song first, my number 1 today

Just amazing, what a commitment, the audience screaming and David thinking about each word while singing. He was an outstanding performer. Once my younger daughter visited me, we were talking and 'Cassidy Live!' was playing in the background, and in spite of herself she started listening. And after 'Please, Please Me' she said : 'you know mum, I've heard that song so many times (by the Beatles), but never thought about the words or the meaning of them, only  now while listening to David..wow..'

In February one woman published on Twitter her pic with DC in a car, she was covering his tour in 1991. A lot of people viewed her tweet, I don't know her but it looks she is a popular person. Anyway there were a lot of comments. Mostly usual ones, 'David was my first crush', 'He was so cute', 'I still have his poster', 'I wanted to marry him', you know. But one woman wrote this - ' When did he have a come back tour ? Never heard of it. Show got canceled, he went away'.

I wrote it down and pinned on a board. And look at it every time I start working on my book about David. There are so many people, I mean former fans, who have no idea about David's career after 1974. Never heard about his RCA albums, Police Story or Man Undercover, Blood Brothers or his run in Las Vegas. Never heard those wonderful, great songs he recorded in every decade.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. They Said I Changed A Lot..

Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
