Love Is All That I Ever Needed. The World Without David.

When David Cassidy died on November 21st, 2017, the world stopped for a moment. Suddenly it turned out how important he was for a whole generation of pre-teen and teens from the first part of the 70s.  His image and  his music. His wonderful voice. David the artist and David the human being. 

There was an outpouring of love for him, and during those first days in November 2017, millions of comments and stories were put online. Written by known and unknown. People who knew David, worked with him, and by millions of his fans, from all over the world. 

Elton John -'David Cassidy and I were really good friends in the 70s'. Julian Lennon - 'R.I.P. David. You were a hero of mine growing up.' Hal Blaine -'I'm still in shock, we all knew the end was near..I still feel saddened. He was a very hard studying and working kid. Never complaining or being demanding. (..) The music will go on forever'. Howard Kaylan (The Turtles, Flo&Eddie) - 'So very sad. A great man. A great talent. Honored to have known you David Cassidy. A generation mourns.'

Yes, there were millions of fans in tears and in shock, they couldn't believe that David Cassidy had died, that he'd left them. Forever.

There were fans who never forgot David, and followed his career from the very beginning, saw him in concert or on stage, or even became friends with him, and there were millions who had a crush on him in the 70s, and didn't think about David for many, many years. During that time, nearly 4 decades, those teens turned into middle- aged people. When David Cassidy died, all of them, all the fans, felt like he took away with him the joy, their youth, the piece of the heart of each of them...something died forever.

Fans were waiting, that David would be commemorated, his family or his famous friends would do something. A concert or maybe an album would be recorded..
Fans were waiting but also started working,  to keep that amazing legacy alive. 

Louise Poynton's book, 'Cherish : David Cassidy - A Legacy Of Love', Memorial Bench at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, Timm McCoy's 'David Cassidy Day 2018, that was just the beginning. 
Now after five and a half years  there are memorial plaques and benches in the UK, in Australia,  and in May 2023 fans got a permanent David Cassidy Star in Las Vegas. This star is founded by David's fans from all over the world. It belongs to fans.

In memory of David Cassidy a foundation was started, 'I Think I Love You Animal Foundation'. There were concerts organized for him. There are many ways in which fans and  friends have remembered him and celebrated his life and his generous and caring nature. You can find the list on The David Cassidy Official Website. 


Fans still miss David Cassidy. 
Gone but never forgotten.
