Wishing Danny The Very Best

We know those dialogues by heart. We have watched those scenes hundreds of times. I don't like this word, 'iconic', but can't find another. They are iconic, and I don't have to tell you that Dante Daniel Bonaduce was one of the greatest child actors in the TV history.

A lot of young viewers watched The Partridge Family not because of David but for Danny. Many could identify with him. Who didn't have problems at school..or knew how to cope with the first crush or  wanted to  show off, who didn't think that was adopted, who was not punished or told to go to his own room. And Danny really could get himself into trouble.

He had a great comic talent, was so natural and funny on screen that many episodes were written just for him. He was so good that even that he couldn't play the bass, actually there were a lot of teens who started playing bass because of him

Off screen, he was a wild kid. His father was violent and beat Danny, so sometimes Shirley Jones took the boy to her house for the weekend. When the show wasn’t filmed, Danny went to regular school but didn’t feel well there. He wanted to be regarded as cool, and started smoking when he was 13. Everybody worried about Danny. They really cared, but sometimes working with him wasn’t easy. David lost patience with him several times too. Danny forgot his lines, fooled around or fought on the set with Jeremy Gelbwaks, who left the show after the first season.

Of course we all know what he had to deal with in his life. we grew up with him. Danny Bonaduce is our age, he was born in 1959.

And today we all know how David would have been worried. For him Danny was his one more younger brother.

We all wish Danny the very best and thinking about him today.
