Rainmaker / Wes Farrell, Jim Cretecos and Mike Appel
Those guys wrote together some amazing songs. They also had a perfect singer in David Cassidy, who even at the age of 20 knew everything about passion, love and heartbreakes. He had a magical voice and knew how to sing a love song.
'And I know more than me she loved the rain..'

Strange girl. Wes, Jim and Mike also wrote 'Umbrella Man', this time it was a love story with a good ending. Hope so.
Today's entry is not very sophisticated or meaningful. My part of Europe is again a victim of a heat wave, another one this summer, and I'm sitting at home and dreaming about cloudy skies and rain. And because everything (almost) reminds me of David and his music...Actually he recorded quite a lot of songs with rain in the title.
Another Partridge Family's number about a girl who didn't want Keith/David. Season 1, episode 20. What's more we don't have a music scene with David with this song. When that episode was filmed, in the late 1970, the studio wasn't sure who would be the most important star of the show, they wanted more episodes with Danny, not David. He was just one of Shirley's children. There were long sequences without David, or some songs were performed off screen. Later, such things didn't happen.

We also have two great covers recorded by Partridge Family, 'Walking In The Rain', a big hit, released as a single in 1973, and 'Crying In The Rain', didn't release at all, which is a crime really..

And I've thought that 'It Never Rains In Southern California'.
On 'Rock Me Baby' there are 2 songs about precipitation, 'Soft As A Summer Shower' and 'Song For A Rainy Day', David's own number co-wrote with a close friend, Kim Carnes. Such beautiful and soulful..but first of all David's vocal, sincere, emotional and powerful. It should have been a hit.

33C in the shade, it's 91F. Tomorrow is going to be even hotter. I'm waiting for the evening and listening to 'Raindrops'..
