I really like August, such a special month, a lot of us, Europeans, are on holiday, in my town most small shops and businesses are closed, less people around, less traffic. It's still warm, but days are shorter, nights are colder, sometimes is windy, here in Poland we don't have (so far) devastaiting floods like in Slovenia, Croatia or Germany. However every day there are showers..

August was always a special month for David Cassidy. Because of Saratoga Springs. As he said, his favouite place on Earth. He played his first concert there, at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, on June 27, 1971, and the next year on August 2.  He was in Saratoga Springs for 2 weeks in August, every year, to the rest of his life..and it was his last wish to stay there forever.

The race season in Saratoga this year has started in July and will end at the beginning of September. It must have been always like that. 

David Cassidy became an important and well known part of that community. On August 12, 2000 for the first time  'A Day At The Races with David Cassidy' was held at the Saratoga Race Track to raise money for KidsCharities.org, and again in 2001. 

He took part in galas, for example on August 7, 2011 in The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation's annual Gala Fundraiser. In 2008, on August 11 he was the guest speaker at the 2nd annual Gala of the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council at Saratoga County..That day David Cassidy publicly stated that he was an alcoholic. There was a crowd of about 250 and no one expected anything like this. When David asked for support he received a standing ovation for his courage. Later all local politicians, including the Mayor of Saratoga Springs, came to his table to lend their support..

He was also working in August. Each and every year. Performing on stage, playing concerts, recording music. Working on the set of The Partridge Family. 51 years ago, on August 8, 1972 the cast of the show was still filming at Kings Island. Scott Awley has posted today great pics from the set, on The Partridge Family - The Official FB Group for www.cmongethappy.com. And exactly 51 years ago they filmed the scene at the carousel..

  I learnt yesterday that Robyn Millan died last year. Someone published a post about the TPF's episode where she'd appeared as a guest star, 'Dora, Dora, Dora', Season 2 episode 1, aired 50 years ago, on September 17, 1971..And there was a comment about that episode that the script was poorly written, sexist etc. Maybe, no one would dare write something like that now, but the world looked different half a century ago..And I really felt sad yesterday because of Robyn.
