David Cassidy in Scotland.
Shawfield Stadium was not in Glasgow in 1974, but in Rutherglen, at the time it was still an independent town, the next year, in 1975, lost its own council. But of course it's so close to the centre of Glasgow, that even at the time was regarded as a suburb of the city.
Shawfield Stadium is closed now, it was opened in 1898 (can you believe it, amazing) as a football ground, but it was famous as a grayhound racing venue, the most important in Scotland. DC played there on May 24, 1974. We only know the hour of that concert (8p.m.), that it was Friday, we have a setlist, but no audio, I'm sure it must be somewhere, I can't believe nobody have thought about recording it..
Let's watch this great video and listen to C.C Rider. I love it.

Why writing about this great concert now? Because when I was in London on September 21st, I met two wonderful ladies. DC's fans of course, It's happened that the three of us came an hour earlier for the dinner, earlier than the rest of the fans. Yvonne and Julie. We were the first, so we had the best places, with David's pic just behind us, the handsome waiter was only for us, and last but not least David's songs were played..That was so moving, to hear his voice and watch other guests' reaction. That playlist was really impressive, the greatest Partridge Family and David's solo hits. That song made me so happy..and I was singing along with him..

We had a great time together, Julie, Yvonne and me. We laughed a lot, gossiped a lot, that was fun. And we also talked about that concert, because Yvonne is from Glasgow and she saw David in 1974. I was so happy to meet Yvonne, because I always wanted to talk with her. In 2018 she used to write a lot of comments on the website. At first Julie had to be a translator, because Yvonne's Glasgow accent was a huge challenge for me, but it was not an obstacle to have great fun and understand each other. And singing with David.

I couldn't find any other artist besides DC who played concert at Shawfield Stadium. There were a lot of articles in the press, it was a hard night for the police and security. The Rutherglen Reformer : "Time and time again waves of weeping girls surged towards the stage with stewards and police fighting to hold them at bay. For those at the front it was a night of mixed pain and pleasure as they watched David Cassidy, for at the same time they were being crushed against the barriers by the force of thousands behind them..'
One fan, 17-year-old youth from Rutherglen, climbed on to the roof of the stadium and jumped on to the stage. The next day he was fined £ 40..
