December 1995

December never was easy for David Cassidy. Both his parents died in December. His father in 1976. His mother just before Christmas in 2012.

He performed on Christmas Eve in 1997 and 1998, in EFX, and again from December 27. It was the same when he performed on 'At The Copa', in 2000. He was on stage already on December 26. And in 2001, on December 28 just before 'At The Copa' show started, David came out into the audience and announced that a 40 pound radiator had dropped on his foot when he ran into it in the bathroom during the night. He hadn't turned on the light.

He said there was a lot of blood and his doctor said he wouldn't be performing that night, but DC told him he would..David did perform that night with a lot of energy and pain killers..

In 1983, in December he performed in 'Joseph', first in Toronto, the last show was on 16th, and the next day he was in Pittsburgh, and in the evening he attended the Sunday evening concert of Shirley Jones with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at the Heinz Hall, and then he went on stage to sing a Christmas song with Shirley. We don't have a video or even audio from it, so let's watch Shirley and David singing together a Christmas song (in December of course), in 1982.

I can go on like this much longer, there is an impressive list of DC's December concerts, but I want to share a link to a very special video from December of 1995, when David Cassidy was performing in Blood Brothers in the UK. It was a very long tour, started on October 23, in Oxford, at the Oxford Appollo Theatre, later the show moved to the Bristol Hippodrome, and what a shame because I've passed through Bristol twice by bus in September this year, but I didn't stop my journey to see this place..

And from December 11, 1995 David Cassidy performed in 'Blood Brothers' at the Phoenix Theatre in London. On this video we can see him inside the theatre (also with Bill Kenwright, who died in October this year)..and outside. It's very moving for me, because since November 2018, I've been in London every year (mostly twice a year) and I always come to this place first.

The video is also very unique, because actually we can see in it a fragment from the last DC concert in 1974. when he played at the Manchester City Football Ground. Amazing.
