'Have Things Really Changed So Much Or Is It Just Me..'

Today's title is a fragment from 'Can't Go Home Again', written by David Cassidy, Kim Carnes and Dave Ellingson, more than half a century ago.

We write about David Cassidy everyday, it's very easy to forget that the 70s was...very long time ago. There is even the FB Group called, 'We Pretend it's Still the 70s.'. I know that it's not true of course, what's more I think that now a lot of things are much better than they were 50 years ago, and I live in the present and I enjoy my life.

Let's watch again DC performing 'Can't Go Home Again' in Australia, in 1974. Outstanding video, we can admire David Cassidy in conversation with his audience, his professionalism, and we know how difficult, even dangerous that concert was. Also for him.

Denny Laine died yesterday. He was 79. And it's happened that quite recently I've written an entry about 'Go Now' (it was published on November 17), and while writing it I checked some info about him on Wikipedia, and his profile was written in the present tense, now he is history.

I was a huge Wings fan in the 70s, maybe didn't like everything what the band recorded (and I never was a fan of Mull of Kintyre), but 'Band On the Run' and 'Wings Over America' were ones of my fav pop albums from the 70s.

We've lost more musicians with the DC connection in 2023, people he worked with, or artists who influenced him, and even in one case a global star, who as a child was his fan. Lisa Marie Presley.

Of course most of them were old, but it was always sad to read about their passing. Denis Budimir  who played on nearly all The Partridge Family's albums. He was 84. The musicians so important for David, Jeff Beck and David Crosby. Terry Kirkman, the author of 'Cherish'. He was 83. And Randy Meisner..

Let's finish with something more optimistic. 'Tomorrow' written by Paul and Linda McCartney appeared on the Wings debut album 'Wild Life', released in December of 1971. And at last a David's cover found recognition on Wikipedia. We know what Paul McCartney said about the DC's version. The original song is just a pleasant anticipation for a nice, lazy day in a park. And David's..about something much more exciting..
