'Spirit Of '76' Shooting Script
First David Cassidy in..Moscow. The only time he performed in my part of the world. It was on our Polish TV too, everywhere behind the Iron Curtain, it was May 1st celebration concert in 1989, but I never watched those transmissions from the Soviet Union.
The 1st May Day Celebration was one of the most important communist holidays. Sue Shifrin and DC were invited because Sue was one of the top American songwriters who took part (and wanted to take part) in the 'Music Speaks Louder Than Words' project. That was the first ever collaboration of songwriters from the USA and Soviet Union.
But I don't want to write about politics, it just happened I talked about Moscow and this song with one of my FB friends (thank you Stefania Gloria Sartori) yesterday. And since then I've watched this video a few times, and I shouldn't (and regret it) but I've read comments.. David looked so gorgeous and sexy. Happy and healthy. That's what counts.

A few days ago I got an information (Google alerts) about the auction, from julienauctions.com, that the 'Spirit Of '76' Shooting Script, owned by David Cassidy was sold for $390. The script was dated March 17, 1989. The date is interesting. We don't have much info on DC from 1989, just a few newspapers' notes, 1 (ONE!) very important radio interview, and 2 (TWO!) DC's TV guest appearances. One from Moscow and the other one on Arsenio Hall. And DC looked great, but somehow this is not the best of his TV interviews. I think he was too serious and talked a little bit too much, or was nervous..I don't know.

In May 1989 David already had some demos with his new music to start thinking seriously about recording a new album. That month he was a guest on the Mark&Brian Show, at the time the most popular morning show from KLOS_FM in LA. The rest is history. They played his demos, fans gathered outside, record labels phoned. I think not everything was so spontaneous, anyway let's watch DC, Mark Thompson and Brian Phelps talking about it on Good Day LA in November 1990.

Let's return to the script, it was from 'the collection of David Cassidy' whatever it means. It would be interesting to know who's sold and who's bought it. And of course it's made me think about fans' collections of DC's memorabilia, and what a shame that we, David Cassidy's fans don't have our 'Graceland', a place we could meet and admire David's stage costumes, see his scripts, hand written lyrics of his songs, all the publications ever printed about him, Those lunch boxes, posters, jigsaw puzzles etc...
