February 29
An extra day for us and some meaningful anniversaries.
I've learnt today a lot about Dinah Shore, who was born on February 29 in 1916. I've had no idea how extraordinary woman she was, a very successful recording artist, actress, radio and television personality, a golfer, and last but not least beautiful woman who had romances with Eddie Fisher, Frank Sinatra and in the early 70s with Burt Reynolds, 20 years her junior. Wow.
It must have been something being invited to her talk show, and DC was really happy when Dinah Shore complimented him on his acting.
We don't have a better copy of this program. October 29, 1978

David Thomas Jones died on February 29 in 2012. He was only 66. Before DC was Davy Jones. He was the first crush for many young girls who later fell for DC. I have such English friends.
Davy Jones was born in December 1945, he wanted to be a jockey, but resigned when his mother died. He was only 14 at the time.. Very early success in musical theatre, on West End and on Broadway. He was nominated for Tony. Davy Jones appeared on the same historic Ed Sullivan show as The Beatles, in February 1964. He said, 'I watched The Beatles from the side of stage. I saw the girls going crazy and I said to myself, - that's it. I want a piece of that.'
The rest is history..

DC and Davy Jones met in 1971. DC, "His manager lived in a house above mine in the Hills and all of a sudden he was standing at the front door.' That small village Hollywood. Everybody knew everybody and I also have heard (sorry, awful gossip) that our David had a soft spot for lovely Linda, Davy Jones' first wife. They divorced in 1975.
Many years later DC and Davy Jones became real friends, when they met again in 2006 at the horse track at Saratoga Springs. They had a lot in common, also the fact that they both loved horses. DC bred throughbreds and Davy specialized in training, riding and jump-racing.
On the early morning of February 29, 2012, Davy Jones went to tend his 14 horses at the farm in Florida, and after riding his favourite horses complained of chest pain. He was taken to hospital too late
