Some Old Woman/Shel Silverstein and Bob Gibson
Actually this song is called, 'Some Old Woman Tellin' Old Those Lies', sung by a folk legend, Bob Gibson, and the original version is much longer and the lyrics much stronger than David's cover. You can read for yourself and listen to Bob Gibson. It's very nice that on his page DC's version is included, just I don't know why it's written there that his cover wasn't released. It's on the DC's third solo album, 'Dreams Are Nuthin' More Than Wishes' of course.

That was an interesting choice of a song for his album, and I'd have liked to know why he had changed the lyrics. "You know I lie awake nights, I'm just weepin' and cryin''. David's version is much more optimstic like he wanted to believe himself that he didn't care so much about what was written about him..

What a gem. Wonderfully sung, superbly played, arrangement. Perfection. I've thought about this song watching another new interview posted by Jane on The David Cassidy Official Website. She doesn't slow down. Nearly everyday something extraordinary. David Cassidy on Kelly & Company Show. It was filmed it Detroit (the show), so probably that interview could be from August 1981 when DC performed in 'Little Johnny Jones' at the Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago. He mentioned that Shirley Jones saw him performing when the show was in Los Angeles, that was in June 1981.
So I think it's August 1981 and let's watch David Cassidy telling some lies..

No drugs, no alcohol and not a word about music he recorded for RCA. That question about wedding ring must have been difficult too. He looked tired and tense, talked too fast and too much, like this interview was without a script. 8 Partridge Family Seasons. That's a revelation..
Don't get me wrong, I love DC, it was a very difficult time for him, his marriage on the rocks or even worse, and he was up to his ears in debt. He lost all the money he had earned..He still hoped that the show would be on Broadway, but it was wishful thinking. He worked so hard but the reviews weren't very good. The critics often brought his teen-idol past and compared him to Cohen and Cagney which wasn't fair. He wasn't a professional tap dancer like them, instead he had a wonderful voice and stage presence.
Let's see David on Merv Griffin Show singing a song from 'Little Johnny Jones'. May 20, 1981, the show with David just premiered and he was full of hope.
