In My Life / John Lennon and Paul McCartney

Somehow April again. So fast..In Poland early Spring, a special month for us, David's fans. And I also have birthday in April, DC was always 12 years older than me, and with each year this gap is decreasing. It has made me think about David in 2012, when he was 62, like me now.

In 2012 David Cassidy very often performed 'In My Life'. From his favourite 'The Beatles' album, 'Rubber Soul', the song credited to Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership, but we know that John Lennon was the author of the lyrics. David sang it at casinos in the US and also at his last ever concert in the UK. Echo Arena, Liverpool. November 17, 2012. Singing with the audience.

It was a difficult year for him. He was worried about his mother. Evelyn was born in May 1932 and since 2005 had severe dementia. DC was the only child and was very conscious that there were millions of baby-boomers who had elderly parents in need of help and support. On May 18 he took part in the Alzheimer's Foundation of America Educational Conference as a keynote speaker and delivered 'A Son Story'. He talked about it, and about his mother in this very moving interview on CNN. How well I understand him now..

In 2012 David Cassidy had a lot of personal and health problems. He was very saddened by Davy Jones' unexpected death of a heart attack in February 2012. David performed with Davy Jones the previous year, and they had another joint concert scheduled on April 14. They met in the early 70s and had so much in common. Both actors who didn't want to become teen idols, and both passionate horsemen. David said about his late friend (and maybe also thought about himself), "People forget he was a very good actor. He said to me once - 'This Monkees thing ruined my acting career". He was a very loving and caring guy."

In 2012 David played great concerts in the US. He concentrated more on music not chatting with fans. On July 14 he played for 10k audience at the Des Plaines Summer Fling. A very long 90 minutes gig where again he didn't chat much, only joking about his thinning hair and fractured finger. This is my favourite David's 'In My Life' concert version. It's hard not to be moved listening to him..

On November 3 at Magic City Casino in Miami, DC was honored at the Film, Recording and Entertaintment Council Gala. He was given a Life Achievement Award. On some of the pics from that event he was smiling, but on some was pensive and serious..He was only 62.

Let's finish with the song we all have in our DNA..About 'memories of you' and April.
